Hospital Bed for Mom
The bed is going to work great, but right now mom has to get used to it. By next week all this drama will be over.
My back aches.

I know your mom is grateful
Cantankerous maybe, but grateful! You're truly a Godsend for her, Ginny!
Hope your mom gets lots of rest in the hospital bed. Better to be in one of those at home than in the hospital!
Hope you can get some rest now as well.
Big hugs to support to you and Mom.

The hospital bed will be a big help to you both. She will rest better and so will you. Don't forget to take care of Ginny in all this. We don't need for you to collapse from exhaustion.0 -
Hospital Bed for Mom
Ginny,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I don't post much at all but read the boards. My dad had a hospital bed and camode. Just wanted to pass this info on to you about the camode.
When Hospice dropped off all of the equipment they did not set the camode to the height needed so it was difficult for my dad we just didn't think about that step. I know they have a camode that is portable see if they can send that to you and have it set for your mom's height. The other thing that was not given to us at first was a transport wheel chair they sent a regular wheel chair far to heavy for my mom to move.
Thinking of you and sending prayers

Sam, if I stop and think about "Ginny" I burst into tears, so I just don't do that. I think my husband misses "us". All our focus is mom. Our "us" time is going to the grocery store and hurrying home cuz mom's alone! Mom is really good in this regard. If we are gone, she will stay in bed. Whew!
I really lose it when someone asks how I'M doing! Don't wanna go there.0 -

Thank you for
Hi Nicole!
Thank you for your comments. Mom's wheelchair is WAY too heavy for me to lift up and out of the trunk and it won't fit in the back seat. I will ask about a transport WC cuz that's more in line with what mom needs... from the car to the doc, from the car into the house, etc. Very good idea.
Mom is a little thing so the commode news to be low. It sort of doesn't fit over the actual toilet bowl. I'll have to figure it out on a day that my brain is working. Equipment and tests last night, radiation today, I'm mentally and physically gone.0 -

Oh Ginny, I was the same way! It was also very hard one someone asked how the kids were but I could usually get through that - but it was a huge mistake to ask about me! It's wonderful that your husband is so supportive and patient. Try take take a little more time - even if it's to go out to breakfast or lunch once a week. It would do you both good!0 -
All the equipment will make
All the equipment will make things easier when the adjustments are made.
When there is a diagnosis of cancer, it doesn't just change the patients life, it changes everyone connected to that person. It becomes a family desease. Your mom is so blessed to have a daughter like you and extra blessed to have a son in law like your husband. Do find a way to take some time away from caregiving and pamper yourself. It's important to take care of you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and family,
Sandra0
