hospice called in
After 4 years we had to call in hospice, man they got there stuff together. The outcome is now in God's hands and we are praying for the best and preping for the worst. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, seeing my wife laying in that hospital bed, she looks more comfy than the regular bed. More people are stopping by, and I hope that that continues. I am sadden that our time may becomeing to an end, but knowing that her pain will be ending gives me some joy.

Hospice
So sorry for your situation, but I know you made the right decision. Hospice is the answer, when all other options for a cure has failed. I too will be following in your footsteps soon. My husband is currently trying the last attempt at chemo to try to stabilize his liver cancer. At some point though, we will have to go to hospice, and I am so very happy they will be there for us. May God bless you and your wife with his grace.0 -

Hospice will be such a help
Hospice will be such a help to you. It is sad to know that options are over, but
it does seem to be out of our hands. I lost my husband on Jan 23. He had fought a
long battle. I was looking at some pictures of him today, when the pics were taken
I don't think I realized how much this cruel disease had destroyed his body. I saw him
everyday and took care of him, so the change was gradual to me. His suffering is at
an end now. Even though I miss him terribly everyday, I know it was selfish of me
to want him to hang on. Hospice will help you so much, let them handle things now, and
spend as much "one to one" time that you can with your wife. I pray that you will find
strength. Brenda0 -
sitter story
Steve, I hope you are bearing up today, it's hour by hour isn't it? I was my mother's primary caregiver until she passed away in January. When she became bedridden, the hospice social worker helped me find an experienced "sitter" who we paid $12 an hour. She was great!!! She really knew how to keep Mom comfortable in the bed, and one day she even did her nails. Properly done (I gradually learned), a bed bath can be like a wonderful moist massage. There are subtle joys in these days. Grab em.0 -
Hospice
Hospice is the way to go. My prayers are with you. This is very difficult. I know cuz I've been there. Take care of yourself. We think we are prepared for whatever happens, but we really can't be. Remember that you are not in charge and that you have been there with her every step of the way. Blessing to you both. However long you have been together, it is never long enough. Hugs and prayers, Fay0 -
Mr. steve - Hospice
Steve,
I am sorry you are now in this terrible place that I just left. I too took care of my husband who suffered from Liver Cancer. I wish I could say that Hospice was a Godsend to us but it didn't turn out that way. My husband passed away January 14th of this year. I miss him every day and cry at the least little thing that I think of. Keeping busy helps. I would only suggest to spend every waking moment with your wife and tell her how much you love her.
The last thing my husband mumbled to me was after I told him I loved him and he mumbled back the same. I will forever remember that. We would have been married 40 years in April and I will always remember those last moments. Treasure every moment. They will last forever in your memory and heart.0 -
Mr. Steve,
Just want you to
Mr. Steve,
Just want you to know that you and your family are in my heart and prayers. I pray for strength and peace to come your way. Hospice helped me with my mother. Wow! they were a blessing and stayed with us until they took my mother away and comforted my family. We can't always say the right things, but may God bless you...
