Hi I would like to hear experiences from others who tried to take Votrient and could not take because of elevated liver tests. Now starting Nexavar. I have RCC. Thanks

adobe, if you search under the chemical name, or the trade name above, you should find plenty of threads discussing this therapeutic agent.
It seems as though Votrient, which is the latest hot item in the armamentarium of cancer treatments, is fairly well tolerated by most patients but we're all different which makes life more interesting.

By the way, would you care to say whether you have clear cell RCC or some other version and what stage and grade are you per your path report?

Thank you again for your info. I have clear RCC, left kidney out 12 years ago. No drugs or chemo during that time. Now it is back, will have to find out stage and grade on next dr visit.

Sorry to hear you've had a revisit after all those years but, fortunately much progress has been made since your nephrectomy and there are many more options available, especially if you have clear cell. Let's hope you've caught your recurrence early in stage and grade. Keep us all posted on further findings and you'll find plenty of support here, if needed.

Thanks again as your info continues to be helpful. I have visited the sites you told me about. From ongoing monotoring from great doctors, the recurrence was caught early. I was shocked after a 12 year time had passed. I just started the Nexavar, 2 tablets (400mg) twice a day. I have taken 3 doses, and the 4th one will be today. So far, no problems.

    tolerating nexavar so far
I am on the second week of taking nexavar. So far it is going well. 400mg in am and 400 mg 12 hours later. Ct on 3/8. I still continue to wonder about which is best --Nexavar or Votrient. I was unable to tolerate the Votrient, but I know it is the newest drug out.
    Anyone have any info??

Good to hear it's going so well. Biochemical individuality is so diverse that it's a matter of horses for courses - a question of what does the job for you. Even with over the counter painkillers, different drugs work best for different people.
