anybody know an antibiotic that doesn't cause diarrhea?? not Ec ?

I hope nobody minds that I am asking this question but I think my present problem is related to all the antibiotics I was given during chemo and also the fact that I am post esophagectomy. I have a bad respiratory infection and so far the dr tried Azithromycin, tore me up, went to Augmentin, still having multiple problems, so does anyone know of another antibiotic that worked for them without all the stomach drama?? I am afraid of c dif having seen my sister have it and it is really nasty? but I forgot to take probiotics and yogurt so starting them now and asking the dr for another med. Just hoping someone would know of something that is mild but still works good. thanks for anybody that can help.

    Hi Sherrie,
    Thanks for posting. I have now gotten another rx but for Amoxicillin which is supposed to be milder and I got more probiotics and the special yogurt to go with this. I used to be able to take these meds and still think my intestinal tract has changed since the surgery and won't tolerate stronger meds. I really appreciate your input and it is so nice that you are here to help everyone. We all have learned a lot from your struggle to help your hubby Jim fight this stupid EC. Jim lost his battle but I think he won the war by his grace and bravery with your help. take care,

    You might try Clindamycin

    Last summer I had to get a root canal (I had an infected tooth). I have had intestinal issues with antibiotics even before my Ivor Lewis surgery so I was particularly wary of taking antibiotics after surgery. I explained this to the dentist and he suggested Clindamycin. I also take a probiotic called Culturelle (lactobacillus). I took this antibiotic for two weeks and had no issues at all.

    Hi Paul,
    I will write that one down and if this happens again, I will suggest it. I think it may be the med I was given last year when I had aspiration pneumonia. Thanks for the suggestion, I am taking the probiotics with every dose of the new med and that seems to be working. take care,
