Has anyone been referred to a neurologist post treatment due to memory loss and stumbling issues

in Head and Neck Cancer #1
They have (his GP) referred my husband to a neurologist because he has short term memory loss 9 months out, but mostly becuase of his balance issues. They had him stand with his feet together and close his eyes. he was swaying all over the place. I am getting a second
tomorrow with his oncologist. When I called her voicing my concerns, she wanted to see him, as well. We shall see!! Has anyone had the balance test done before? If so, did you go see a neurologist and diagnosis?

    YES
    Jim had balance problems and memory loss. His Radiation oncologist did a CT of his head and found fluid on the brain. Sent to a neurologist who put a shunt in his brain to drain excess fluid. His surgery was Last Monday, came home next day, doing great.

    Glad to hear he is doing
    Glad to hear he is doing better. I am sure she will want to run some tests. New year new deductibles. Not sure if we can afford to have any tests done. I will do my best to make it happen.

    I'm always the one saying it's normal
    But I think you should get further tests. I understand the deductible thing as my first prescriptions this year put me in shock!

    I am going to see neurologist
    I am going to see a neurologist on Feb 22 for my light headiness/shoulder/neck pains I am having after post cancer treatments.

    Memory issues seem pretty
    Memory issues seem pretty common. When we saw the radiation oncologist last year I brought it up; he didn't seem surprised or concerned. My guess is that the radiation affected the brain; since the rads were to the throat area.

    With my hub; it's different things; using the computer; he used to build them with me; now he can barely surf the net some days. Always closes windows he didn't mean to close; doesn't remember how to save files. Then something as simple as loading a dish drainer. I don't know how he doesn't stack dishes the way he used to; but they're now just piled in there. He also swears I don't cook which is pretty far from the truth. With other things; his memory is fine.

    Nice reading, I am sure it's all related to the chemo/rad. But, I just want to make sure.
    He has an appointment in about an hour. I will let y'all know what she said.

    EEG Today
    He is having an EEG today and som other tests. I will let you allmnow what they say/do.
    Tomorrow he will have a MRI. Poor guy get his feeding tube removed Friday and by Sunday he was sick, vomiiting and mild fever all afternoon. He finally got better around dinner time. Does anyone else suffer with nausuea in the mornings? He seems to have an upset stomach a couple of times a month.

    My hub was taking nausea
    My hub was taking nausea meds for a while. Chemo/rads ended 12/24/09- feeding tube out around 2/22/09- I'd have to say that we kept the nausea meds going until March or so & he took as needed. He also took Nexium & just switched to a generic a few months ago. He did not have stomach issues before cancer but after cancer he does; even 2 years out. It also can be stress adding to it. How many months out is your hub? It's going to take a good year before his body resembles any kind of normal. My hub did physical therapy which helped

    Also pay attention to your body. Look up female heart attack symptoms. The cancer may end up catching up with you at some point. I'm a really strong person; but for the last year have had a few issues- reflux; vomiting every now & then; different pains. My Dr did not put them together until I came in with a female heart attack sheet.
