Haven't been posting for a while - but have been lurking and reading.
What's the news on your situation? I've been hoping for good / better news for you!
I was also curious about MDX1106 itself - have you experienced any side effects? Is this a Phase I or II clincial trial?
I ask because I'm on my second RCC recurrance - and always interested in 'possibilities'.0 -

Ibinmsp (as a curious foreigner may I ask if you live in St. Paul?) - when Fox gets back from enjoying a well-earned break he can give you info straight from the Fox's mouth. Meanwhile, may I say I share both your sentiments and your interest in MDX-1106.
Fox's experience of minimal side-effects seems typical - it seems to be tolerated much better than most cancer drugs. I had hoped I might be able to try it but there are fairly stringent qualifying criteria and it seems to be restricted at present to clear cell cases (so with chromophobe, now mostly sarcomatoid, I guess I have no chance but from what I've read you have a better chance of inclusion in a trial). I hope Fox can tell you more.0 -

and you're one of the few who made the connection! I live in Minnesota (now) - in one of the burbs.
I just started on Sutent and have to say this is the only time I've been scared! HATE the idea of feeling sick(ish) - for any reason. So a drug with no/minimal side effects makes me VERY happy!0 -

Living in N.E. Scotland, I'm in danger of becoming insufferably pleased with myself for working that one out!
Like you, I hate the idea of feeling sick unless it's in a worthwhile cause (a point Jamie1.3cm has made eloquently more than once). For you, any side-effects from Sutent may well be worth it since it seems to be producing good results for some patients. I hope that MDX-1106 will become generally available and that you will qualify for inclusion.0 -

The Fox is back from Myrtle Beach! Thanks T-W for holding the fort. Ibinmsp, here is my experience to date. First infusion in december. Takes only an hour. No obvious side effects. I did develope hip flexor pain about 2 weeks later. Had difficulty lifting leg and walking. I hadn't done anything differently. We kept an eye on it. A couple days after second infusion, chest pain developed and then back pain between my shoulder blades. Will admit pain was worse than nephectomy. Had a scan before third infusion and doctor identified what appeared to be new lesions in my thoracic spine and illiac crest. So she wasn't surprised by my pain. Needed heavy duty percocets just to get around. Since third infusion all pain has resolved. As I mentioned, I just came back from playing several rounds of golf at Myrtle beach with no issues. Next infusion is Feb.15th. and then every 3 weeks. Cat scan every 6 weeks. Now here is my take, hip pain was exactly in a spot that I have had problems with for years. Chest and back pain I thought was due to a disc injury. No question there was significant inflammation and it lit up like fireworks on my scan. My bet is that next scans show dramatic reduction in those areas.Doctor already stated lung mets were smaller. This drug is expected to cause a strong inflammatory response in it's process of attacking tumor cells. Earlier patients had had the treatment stopped due to inflammation. It was thought the treatment was ineffective. Now, inflammation is expected. I'll admit that right now, I feel excellent.I do not expect further problems but we'll see. I'll keep posting.0 -

Great news Fox, love that attitude. My prayers are that MDX kicks cancer butt. Make it to any biker bars on vacation? What steed do you ride? I ride a dyna right now, really got my eye on a street glide though!
Health and happiness,

Like flatlander, you do have your trials.
Glad to hear about the BIG trial anyway. It does seem to be working. The soothsayers of the last year or so must be pretty amazed by your biking and golfing, not to mention running and lifting.
For the edification of Ibinmsp and myself can you recall the qualifying criteria for the MDX-1106 trial? From memory, prior treatments were required - ok for Ibinmsp - but it's only for clear cell RCC so no hope for me :-(
I played Carnoustie yesterday - a bit cooler than Myrtle Beach but lucky compared with middle England yesterday - down to -16C in some places.0 -

Thanks Wayne. By the way my last bike was a Dyna. I bought a new Streetglide in '09 and love it. I brought my jacket and helmet to Myrtle with me but didn't get around to renting a bike. But thats OK. New England has been warm enough for short rides any how. We hung out at Suck, Bang, and Blow. Watched the super bowl there. Always a good time.0 -

...does anyone mind if I kill this thread and start a new one? It is getting too long. Thanks, I didn't think so. This thread will remain but I'll start a new one as MDX part 2. See you there.0
