Thought I'd post quick update on how my treatment has gone since I was PET diagnosed with my SCC having matriculated to both my left lung and liver. Two years ago I was treated with radiation and erbitux for Stage IV SCC to the valecular region of my throat. My current treatment protocol is for 18 weeks of carboplatin with erbitux week 1, then erbitux the next 2 weeks.
Week 1
Intermittent dull headache
Flu like symtoms day 4 + 5
Constipation day 6 + 7
Stomach pain day 7 (post bowel movement)
Slight itching especially in scalp
Minor facial breakout
Week 2 - erbitux only
Continued stomach pain day 1
Numbness in left hand (palm to middle of fingers)this has not gone away.
Left hip pain not sure if sciatic (sp) as pain goes up my left leg to my butt.
Tenderness tip of tongue
Increased facial rash
Week 3 - erbitux only
Stomach has been better.
Had a chemo brain day on Wednesday only, it was weird.
In general I've been a little lethargic.
all other symptoms about the same (tolerable)
I start Round 2 tomorrow and I will share the high/low lights when it comes to a close. I realize that many of these side effects have been shared previously by others. Hopefully reshuffling these topics might help some newbie.
Blessings to All,
Ed
