FINALLY!! Surgery Date Tomorrow!
Just wanted to let you know my hubby finally has a surgery date Thursday. This is 1 day shy of 10 weeks since finishing chemo. What a wait, and over the last week he has coughed up food a few times that has went down wrong, so this was too long to wait. This is all making me very anxious.
Would really appreciate some good thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations on Surgery!
Hi Julie and Nicholas welcome to our EC family. I was a caregiver for my dad, Ray. He passed in March 2010 from ec with mets to the liver. He was not able to have the surgery, so you husband being able to have surgery is wonderful. Surgery is the best way to get rid of the tumor. I will be thinking of you both tomorrow with positive thoughts and prayers. Keep in touch and let us know how he is doing.

You certainly have our thoughts and prayers
I can only imagine how anxious you are - you will be very busy and we will be waiting to hear how things are going for you two.
Don has two more weeks of treatment and the surgery anxiety is already getting to me - trying to take it one day at a time.
May God be with you, hubby and all the surgeons, nurses, and medical staff and ensure that you have a very successful surgery and speedy recovery.
Mega hugs to you Julie -

Thoughts & Prayers with you
Julie!
It's about time you and Nicholas were able to join the "post surgery" crowd! So glad that you've got surgery tomorrow. I know, it's an awful thing to be excited about, but that's our goal as EC caregivers. So Thumbs Up to you both!
Bring something to keep your attention while you wait in the surgery lounge. Those are some long hours. I pray every bit of news you get tomorrow is positive. We can't wait to hear your update.
Love & Hugs and lots and lots of positive thoughts & Prayers

My prayers are with you today. It's always a releif to get it behind us and move on to the rest of our lives.
Thinking of you both during this long day,
Sandra
Thank You all for the good words and prayers. It was a very long day, I am exhausted but need to unwind.
The surgery went nice and smooth, Nicholas was nice and stable through the whole close to 5 hr op.
They started with doing a biopsy on a few spots on the liver, good thing I didn't know that at the time! but no reason for alarm! The tumor was quite large...maybe the 10 wk wait had something to do with that ??!!But came out clean, he said everything looks good but expects path will find live ( active ) ..not sure what the word is, cancer cells which we thought anyway as the tumor was still there just smaller. The stomach pulled up easily, attaching went well, so all in all good, just get ready for more chemo!!
Nicholas looks amazing for what he just went through, tubes everywhere and some swelling, but color and all great, so I feel much better. He even has his sense of humor!
I know he is in pain but what a trooper!
Maybe tonite I will sleep.

That the surgery went well. One day at a time.
It is good that you learn things AFTER the surgery instead of while they were in the process of it. It is definitely better for you.
So very happy to hear of the good news. Love that they keep there sense of humor.
My dad asked one of the nurses if she got the license plate of the bus that hit him. She thought - oh no, he doesn't remember why he was here!!! Oh boy....luckily the other nurse knew he was kidding. (But had to confirm it with my mom and sister - does your dad always joke around?)
Sleep well Julie, take care of you, too.

Julie - thank you for taking time to update us on Nicholas' surgery. I let out a big sigh of relief for you both. Glad he has his sense of humor intact!
Hoping that sailing is as smooth as possible in the days ahead and you both can get some much needed rest.

Julie,
So glad that things went as planed in surgery today. Now one day at a time as the healing begins. After my surgery I counted it as a victory as each tube came out. It will be a long week but things will get better each day. Hoping for a good swallow test and no surprises in the pathology report.
Sounds like they got clear margins and that is a very positive thing.
Best Regards,
