Insurance problems - AGAIN!!
I switched from Aetna to BC/BS a year ago. I had already battled Aetna and we had a "truce". I anticipated problems when next PET/CT was ordered - and that time is today!! I'm scheduled for scan tomorrow but insurance is balking at approving.
This type of thing infuriates me. I have a huge copay for scans now and don't feel like shelling out hundreds in copays TWICE. Let alone the unnecessary aggravation, time, money, and toxicity to MY BODY.
Who are the wunderkinds who created these protocols??? I wonder if this runaround happens to MEN?????? It's not fair that our lives are toyed with. And if I had no insurance what would be happening??
Serenity Prayer time!! Mary Ann

Insurance companies are profit-driven. I don't know if the socialized medicine folks have it any better though.
We all know it's a BUSINESS and they need to make a PROFIT...therefore, we're just a crumb on the road and they're looking for a great bottom line.
Sorry you're dealing with this AGAIN. When I was having some issues with my insurance, Anthem, I found a personal contact who gave me guidance. Has your doc been involved explaining why need this type of scan? Knowing you, that's been done and now dealing with the NO WE WON'T COVER...
Keep smiling and hang in there!!

....who have worked hard all our lives and pay for ourselves should not be having to deal with this kind of crap, Mary Ann. I am so sorry. And the thing is, you are probably dealing with some clerk who has no vested interest in either your heath or in the profitability of BC/BS.

MaryAnn so sorry you have problems again
You have had your share of insurance problems. Luckily you eventually have gotten the problems taken care of ------not without a lot of your frustration and effort. Hope this situation turns out in your favor again. More than that I hope the scan shows you continue to be NED. Hope your Serenity Prayer worked. In peace and caring.0 -

thank you all for being there to listen and support. Yesterday it looked bleak but no one told me it was canceled though I assumed it was when 5pm came and went without a word.
I decided to let fate decide and I wasn't going to fight for a scan - what will be will be. But not sure if I should eat breakfast or not. With 10am appointment I decided to call at 8am and the radiology folks told me that scan was "reluctantly" approved!!!! yeah. So happy to be allowed to get radioactive fluid coursing through my veins!! Crazy for sure.
Hugs to all, Mary Ann
PS. I'll keep you posted on results which I will get next week.0 -
