blue toes

in Ovarian Cancer #1
I have neuropathy really bad in both feet and a little in my finger tips my question is has anyone had their toes turn blue from the neuropathy. If so what happens I am worried that I will lose those toes if I don't find out what to do with them.

P.S. it is the two toes next to the big toe, oh my the way my two big toes can only move back and forth but I can't get them to bend.

    Anne, You need to call the doctor. I have never had that before but I have lost all my fingernails. Actually I am waiting for the last fingernail to fall off. This is a side effect of the chemo (taxotere). I have the neuropathy too but so far no blue toes.
    I did have another side effect from chemo where my hand swelled up huge. It was all red and I couldn't even hold a fork to eat. Each finger was so big that it touched the other one. Then one of my fingers started turning blue. Kind of scared me. I called the doctor and they gave me a steroid pack. It worked and the swelling went down and finger returned to normal.

    Yup! Mine have been blue for quite a while. I have also lost my big toe toenail twice. I have often wondered the same thing about my toes and how much more chemo they can take. My neuroopathy is in my ankels, balls of my feet and echoes up to my knees right after chemo. If you get any info on the blue toes that is helpful, let me know.

    I remeber you talking about you hands swelling up, I talked with the pallative nurse today and she did take a look at my toes and said yup there blue. Right now we are going to work on the pain issue and then move to the neuropathy I got the feeling right now I am ok she is going to be checking on me weekly by comeing by to see me so I think if it was real bad she would address it right now. I am so sorry about losing your all your finernails did that hurt when it happen and will they grow back. I will keep you in my prays

    losing toe nails and finger nails who would think that could happen because of cancer. I was seen by the nurse and she is going to keep an eye on it if I hear or get in infor I will let you know I am going to add you on my friends list.

    Actually losing the fingernails did not hurt but they sure are UGLY. Can you imagine what I look like, no hair, no eyebrows, no eyelashes and now no fingernails. When I showed my hands to my doctor he said, Yup that is a side effect of taxotere. He said they will grow back. Oh well, they are just fingernails. Anne, I am glad that they are watching it for you. You are in my prayers. We can do this.

    Yes we can
    I am so sorry you lost your nails it just does not seem fair we lose so much because of cancer but to lose all our hair everywhere (well not everywhere I was still growing hair on my chin from the PCO) but to lose your fingernails I mean if it was your toe nails you could just put shoes on but your hands it's just not right. What do you tell people when they see your hands because I have found people to be kinda roud when I comes to things like that. Yes they are just nails but it is still something I wish you were not going threw you are in my prays I hope the nails come back very very fast :).
