Support Groups not so good

I refuse to go the OVC support group
I will not go for that reason I don't want to hear all the bad, I mean we need to know what could happen and be ready for it but I also want to hear about the lady who is into her 20th year of remission. I want to hear things thay did that helpped them get their minds off it, like crafts or going bowling not just the scary stuff. I love this site this had been a blessing for me to hear their ups and down their joys and sorrows and to feel their support when I can't feel anything but pain. You have found a great group of teal sisters who are here to laugh with your or cry with you, to listen when you vent or help you to get things off your chest. This will be the hard test you will every have to face in your life I hope but know you don't face it alone you face it with the power of the teal sisterhood.

I totally agree
I went to a support group about five times. Out of a group of 13 women, 8 were battling recurrences and they were all depressed and in tears. One lady (81 years of age) said, "Even those of you who are now in remission and feeling great, you have to face facts, it will come back."
I am fully aware of the possibility but I don't want to hear that sort of thing. Friends and hubby say I am better off not going. They think I am coping well on my own and doing all I can to keep myself healthy.
I find this board very helpful and would rather get my support here when I need it.0 -

I figured a support group would be a bunch of women drowning in tears. I am not criticizing because I cry easily too but I don't want to spend my time doing that. I have friends who are down all the time no matter what is going on in their lives and friends with problems so big you'd think they would be down but roll with it. That is how I want to deal with this and that is why I like coming here. True there are times when the news here is painful but the next post is upbeat or humorous.

when I was given a terminal prognosis, about 1-1/2 years ago my husband and I decided to "eat dessert" and enjoy whatever time we have left together. Hang in there and be well.
I have one like it mine has the butterfly (which is my favorite) in teal and above it, it reads Servivior (I know I did not spell that right). I have been up for over 24 hours because the Avastin which I get every three weeks until September cause really bad joint pain, so from my shoulder to my elbo hurts like hell right now.

You know...I wanted to go
You know...I wanted to go but they always fell on my chemo days. So..I found this group instead. I prefer this group to any other. I just joined the Danish version of the ACS forums and boy we are prolific compared to them.
And...mind you, it is my first impression, more informed. With this group, regardless of the reoccurrences, I do not feel depressed. Yes, we pass on but the group remains strong.0
