More ribs?!
Dawne, you know I'm down for some juicy ribs! Would love to ride the bus to support you. This time I will sit in the back. I don't want to look too messy in front of the other sisters - I get dirty!
And of course you'll also be in my prayers. Good luck with your appt. and may you schedule the surgery date.

Of course, we will be there
Of course, we will be there with you! I hope it all goes well for you.
My 2 sisters and I all had reconstruction and we all had different types of reconstruction. I had a pedicled tram flap followed years later by a free SGAP flap. My younger sister received bilateral implants and my older sister had bilateral pedicled tram flaps. These procedures were done back in the dark ages ;-) and I am sure that they have new and better options now.
Just to let you know, we all did great and are all pleased with the results. I was just 33 when I was diagnosed and it was very freeing for me to have breasts again because I love to swim and am outdoorsy--I felt very self conscious before my surgery.0 -

MMMMM--some good 'ol Texas bar-be-que sounds really good! Prayers to you for a good appointment and being scheduled with your plastic surgeon. You're going to do great.

Count Me IN
Hi Dawne,
I would LOVE to join you on the Pink Bus in Texas. I am definitely up for some bbq brisket. I will bring a box of hand wipes to share.
I had a right mastectomy in Feb. 2010 and had a tissue expander put in at that time. In June 2011 I had the tissue expander replaced with a saline implant. On the other side I had the breast reduced and lifted. The left side looked very good but I was not at all happy with the way the reconstructed right side looked. The plastic surgeon did not seem interested in doing any revision work so I consulted with other plastic surgeons and had revision reconstruction done in Dec. 2011 by a different surgeon. I have a whole new implant. I now look considerably more normal. In about 3 months I will begin the nipple/areola reconstruction.
I wish you luck.

Hi Dawne,
I will send all the positive thoughts I can in hopes the the surgeon says "it's a go". Have many friends who had reconstruction and they were very, very happy with the results. May your hopes become a reality soon.
Best,
Doris
Tuesday and that all systems are a 'GO' for reconstruction. Personally, I am very
very happy with my results --- wishing, and praying that you will be to.

And I'm in on Texas BBQ - maybe brisket? And I want some Kettle Corn to munch on - haven't had any good since we visited Dallas.
I'm excited for you and confident in your strength.
Hugs,
Sue
I'll be there too. I am sure your doctor has lots to go over with you and alot for you to comprehend.I had no idea till after reading these posts there are so many other types of reconstuction. Very overwhelming.
I've had lumpectomies but I know SOMEDAY I could face the possibility of masectomy and later reconstruction.
Good Luck. I understand why you are excited.

Thank you all for coming with me. I already know that it's going to be a tram flap ( I think that's right) where she has to use my belly fat (I've let it get big so she will have something to use lol). She told me last year when I was first diagnosed that because I'm IBC I can't have implants and that I will stay in the hospital a minimum of 8 days. The hospital stay isn't sounding like too much fun. Even though I'm a nurse, I just hate being in the hospital. I don't know if y'all remember but I went home 2 hours after my bilateral mastectomy with 28 nodes removed.
I'm excited to see everyone on Tuesday & I promise LOTS of BBQ, bananna pudding, peach cobbler & tons of hugs.
Hugs & God Bless,
