Strange pain pop up
I have mets to the liver and have been doing chemo every two weeks (if counts are good) since june 09. Some people seem to get surgery for their mets and then some continue with treatments for awhile after the surgery. Everyone seems to be a little different depending on their own situation and onc. Hope and pray everything works out good.

Shoulder pain
Both Pepe and I have suffered shoulder pain,(and yes we both worried it was cancer mets to the bone, it wasn't) we both went and received cortisone shots(his in Spain, mine in California) and that took away the pain, neither of us did anything to get the shoulder pain but since the cortisone takes it away, we're both grateful.
Quite a few of us have had liver mets and have had surgery to remove those pesky tumors, I also had lung mets but the chemo seemed to have atrophied (sic)and we haven't had to do anything to them.
I had my surgery done at Stanford in California and also have my treatments done in California at Dominican.
Depending on how many tumors and where exactly depends on whether he will have chemo first, then surgery or surgery, then possibly chemo first.
Just one step at a time, mets surely do suck, but (and the but is important here;I sometimes have to remind my own self about that)they can be dealt with, some faster then others, but some slowly.
My prayers are with you.

If your husband has to do any radiation at Rex, my son is a radiation therapist there. He's the tall, good looking one named Matt. *smiles*
Hope your husband's pain will get treated.

In Winter Maries post it said her Lung mets have basically died. Winter Marie what chemo tx did that. I initially had anal cancer, and then a 2nd primary lung cancer which was removed via vats.
Thank you,

Thanks Gail. I am sure they will be seeing a lot of us. He has had a CT, PET. MRI, Lung Biopsy in radiology so far, I wil look for Matt next time we go. We will go tomorrow to see what they can offer him in way of more time. I hate cancer, it just keeps taking our loved ones. Thanks for responding...0 -

Thanks for replying, we too are considering MD Anderson if they cant give us any hope, we will go looking it, he isn't but 58, am not giving up on him yet. HE can still walk 3 miles everyday, and except for the shoulder pain he seems to feel ok. Please let us know if you like MD Anderson.0 -

Hey Kenny, I too have mets to both lungs and tried folfiri but the Camptosar (Irinotecan) made me terribly sick so now it's just Avastin and 5-FU. I also went to MDAnderson and met with Dr. Glover. She offered me the exact same regimen that I could get in my hometown so here I am. Let me know what you find out. I'm checking out Cyberknife and will be zapped after a PetScan. Keep me up to date.0 -

is one of the worlds top cancer centers. In fact, US News ranked it the #1 cancer hospital for 2011. YMMV, but you would be hard pressed to find a better place for your hubby.0
