Eating when abdomen is distended leading to (dry) vomiting

Hi,
I've just had a lovely meal of prawn cocktails. They taste nice and are very light, at least half of them is well shredded lettuce. Not at all did I feel full at the end. I really enjoyed them, but on finishing them I immediately began to want to vomit. It turned out to be dry retching. There was nothing to come up (maybe I hadn't eat enough) but I think that when your abdomen is very distended that there isn't very much room for food or anything else.
I have yet to find out from my next blood test if the Taxol/Gemzar is having any positive effect on the cancer, but I certainly cannot tell by the way that my abdomen feels. It is as distended as it was before starting this chemo. By contrast, I was able to eat anything throughout the Carbo/Taxol and my distension went right down.
Just wondered what other people's experience is of this. Of knowing how much you can eat while your abdomen is very distended.
Thanks,
AussieMaddie

Eating
I get the same symptoms but I think mine is caused by a hiatus hernia started as a result of the weight of the fluid in the abdomen. I hope you get some results soon... I'll be thinking about you....0 -

At this
Thank you ((( )))
At this time, I have no reason to believe I have a hernia but will keep that in mind.
So far, it seems only to be the ascites.
Take good care,
