Very well said, Jamie
Very well said, Jamie, and very clear that you care.
And I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY -- not only can anyone access this board without a login, but our posts come up in Google searches too.
I've shared before how, a couple of years ago, a member included her full name and city of residence in a post. Just to see what would happen, I googled her -- in 10 seconds, her HOME ADDRESS was on my screen! That was certainly a warning sign to me -- I think we all need to be careful.
For me, I'm comfortable posting my first name and general geographic area where I live -- but you ain't gettin' any more out of me without a warrant! :-)

Also don't assume that
Also don't assume that because someone is a 'member' that they are legit - who/what they say they are. The vast majority of us are exactly as we seem but we do unfortunately though we do get trolls - it usually doesn't usually take long for them to out themselves or be outed. For this reeason I would also suggest not being to quick to give out private info on PM's either especially to/with those who have not been around for a while. It could still be used against you.
I too feel comfortable with using my first name and the area I live in but more than that is only given out to those who are 'proven' to be who they are before I give any more info to them individually.

I know and I wonder why our families think we are nuts for meeting in Hershey and elsewhwere I drove down to hershey with that maniac margo and had never met her in a snowstorm!!!! something about cancer makes me think WTH!!! haha. but seriously this is a great reminder. most people are nice and well meaning but it only takes one and we certainly get our share of spammers.0 -
I have gone so far
I have gone so far as to not even post my name or picture. Not that I am one, but suppose I was a public figure, who did not want any trace of information leaked to the public.0 -

I googled "GreeneyedGirl" and up came several posts that I had commented on here at CSN. So, yes...we must be cautious.

Laughs and Melanie, you reminded me that, when I first googled my full name years ago, it turned out there was some porn star with my name! So Laughs -- I could REALLY BE a public figure! :-)
...though, with all my bilateral lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy scars, I think I'll need to find a new career that doesn't require me to work topless....

you are getting out of the topless business Traci. I always thought you were too good for that. And Melanie, it's not just a name search but also a subject search that can pull up our postings. Thank you all for helping me get my point across. I'm trying to cringe a little less having done that.
HUGS TO ALL!!!

A long time ago I googled my name (first name, middle initial and last name) and found out that "I" am a very famous/infamous "Madame'.

Last spring I posted a question on this site about mastectomy swimsuits. I then googled "mastectomy swimsuits" to find out where to buy one, and at the top of the google search was my posting from CSN. I was shocked, to say the least.

I always think that this world of ours is in a bubble but its OPEN to the prying eyes who prey on ppl.
making some changes.
