Surgery scheduled
I have recently found out that I am BRCA 2 positive and the Dr has suggested that I have a double mastectomy. After weighing the pros and cons and getting as many poeples opinions as I could, I have decided to go ahead with the surgery on Jan. 24th. I just wanted to give a little update since I haven't been posting much lately and I also want to take this time to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year and thank you all for your support and friendship.

I hope all goes well and you
I hope all goes well and you have a speedy and uncomplicated recovery. Are you having reconstruction done at the same time? I just found that an acquaintance had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction after being diagnosed with lobular carcinoma in situ, a condition with no definitive treatment. A good friend of mine who is an OB/Gyn has the same condition and opted for 5 years of tamoxifen and close watching. It's a very personal decision, and both of the women I know are happy with what they've chosen. I think I would choose as you have. We already have enough to worry about!

I hope your surgery goes well. You are very brave and you have been through hell. God bless you and hope no more surgeries or chemo are needed...val0 -
THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS
How difficult it must have been to have to make this decision. But we're all here with you, with support, hugs and prayers. I know of someone who just had this surgery in 2011, along with reconstruction. She is doing very well. And I know you'll do well, also. Please keep us informed.
Sending lots of hugs and prayers!
