For MissRenee - to take your mind off the waiting this weekend - SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE!

TraciInLA Member Posts: 1,994 Member
Most of you have seen MissRenee's posts about her bone scan reports, vague possible abnormalities, "could be"'s, and the looming possibility of a bone biopsy -- and her doctor is out of town for the long holiday weekend....I mean seriously -- dude, this just really sucks.

So let's help her take her mind off all this this weekend, and keep her spirits up -- give us the links to your favorite

- silly, laugh-out-loud YouTube videos
- mindless, fun online games
- or just your favorite guilty-pleasure way to waste time on the internet

Come on...don't tell me you don't have them -- copy and paste the link into your message, so MissRenee has something to help her smile this weekend, and we can all happily waste time together!

:-) Traci

It may not be the healthiest
It may not be the healthiest thing to do, but sometimes I sleep thru bad things. Just lay in bed, covered up, and sleep.

Reading something NOT cancer related. Word searches and find the hidden object paperbacks are favorites of mind. Watching tv. I loooove watching the Food Network.

Hope the weekend isn't too bad for you, MissRenee!

    Hmmm...
Let's see......I have two passions that I can count on....well three if you count my 4 grandchildren...Well 7 counting my hubby and two grown, married "kids".......

First I find reading is a great help.....it's a great escape! I can get so engrossed in a book that when I stop reading, I am surprised to realize I am sitting in my den....I am never without a book...

Second, I paint....watercolor and oils....even if I'm not actually working on a painting, I'll just play around with color...

What I'm trying to say, and with my chemo brain, at times it isn't easy...is do something that you love and enjoy doing...I like the suggestion of having your grandchildren around if possible...they are my best " medicine " ...they range from 13 to 3...and they keep me hopping...especially " wild thing " the 3 year old! I also play games on my iPad....and I am spending a good bit of time figuring out the iPhone I got for Christmas.... This thing talks to you....a little scary...haha

And Traci, I would cut and paste, if only I knew how!
Waiting is hell....we all understand that...Try to stay busy, if you physically are up to it...
    Hugs, Nancy

    Peeking
House hunters, international house hunters, house boat house hunters, I love to look at those homes and make snarky remarks. Then of course all of the silly celebrity gossip sites. And I love my grandson though his energy level is much higher than mine right now. Reading is my best friend, always has been, but I am down to the fluffy crap... I am glad my Kindle hides the cover so folks don't see what I am reading and I can still make them think I am smart, not smutty.

    Hang in there Renee!!

You're a gem, Traci, and so are all of you
I love the suggestions. Here's what I've been doing so far:

Had my night with my husband and a bottle of Chardonnay

Yesterday, under much protest, I sent my husband and son skiing up to Snowbowl near Flagstaff. It felt so good to know that they were going to have a wonderful day. I took myself to the mall to buy my dear friend a birthday present and even picked up a pretty sweater on sale for myself!

I came home, baked 4 dozen mini quiches for my best friend's party tonight and watched some tv.

Today I go for my MRI (yuck) then the rest of the weekend I intend to have some fun. No more funk for me---until I know for sure there's a reason to be in one.

Love you guys and Happy New Year to all.

    Hugs, Renee

a few more guilty pleasures to add to the mix :)
After your MRI .. nice lunch ..

then head off to a Casino .. and gambling (penny and nickle slots
    entertain me for hours)

tomorrow after the Rose Parade -- perhaps a quick trip to a Winery
    for a wine tasting afternoon.

salon for a mani - pedi

Funny movies -- Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors, The Roxbury --
    anything funny, and mindless

visit to an elderly friend or relative -- they seems to have the
knack for putting everything into prospective. It is also a great
feeling for making the day, of others.

    Gentle hugs ----

    Rose Parade
is never on Sunday. It will be Monday, the 2nd this year. Very stuffy, those Pasadena people. Trust me, I know:)

I like to stare at the ocean or a bunch of trees --always a reminder to me there's stuff out there bigger than me. I like making stuff -- quilts, art projects. I like babbling to friends -- passes the time. Browsing in used book stores, antique shops, just sort of shuffling along. That's what I do when waiting.

Have you ever watched 'Hot in Cleveland'? Wednesday's episode had me in laughing so hard...If you have On Demand thru cable, watch it.

Also, I posted that on Christmas morning, I mistakenly took my pm meds instead of am. Well, the pm meds include Ambien - I slept til 3:30 in the afternoon - do I see you smiling???

So, reminisce with your family about happy things, really dumb things and laugh yourself silly. Do this while eating great food and drinking great wine, and remember - we love you and you are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.

    Big bear hugs!

    I like being alone, actually
when I'm in a funk and especially don't want my friends telling me what I should or need to do to take my mind off whatever it is. But I do do things that do - I read, I nap, I go to a movie (either alone or I call a friend or husband). I'm just perfectly fine by myself and for me that helps. Like Victoria, I like making things and as long as it's for pleasure, I can disappear in a project at the sewing or embroidery machine for hours. If it's a job, that's too stressful and a "should do" for me.

I'm a great waster of time/procrastinator/avoider. I allow myself the luxury of doing all things time wasting. It's like having a problem gives me permission to do that.

I spend a lot of time here. I think it's therapeutic. A few of my friends would consider this not moving on with my life. But I care about people and I like learning new things. You all give me pleasure and even if I'm obsessing about my health for whatever reason, you all bring me out of it whether directly or indirectly.

Hoping and praying for good results for you. It sounds like you're taking good care of yourself.

Linda, I'm so disappointed in you...
You had all that time on your hands the last 2 days...in between emergency room visits, chemo, hospital shift rotations, blood tests, CT scan, bone scan, nausea, and pain meds...and you didn't use all that free time to come up with some new ideas?

    [sigh]...so disappointed.

Okay, this may be Politically Incorrect, but......
This is the funniest YouTube video I've ever seen. I apologize in advance if anyone is offended, but if you've ever gone to a nail shop. you'll love it.

    What a Coincidence
This is too funny! Oddest thing, I saw this video earlier. My niece was over for dinner and she pulled it up for me to lift my spirits. I thought I was going to pee my pants!

I love your new picture! Phoenix Rising gave me a similar little statue after completing rads...mine has her arms raised in triumph. It is very dear to me, as I'm sure yours is to you.
