    Sorry to hear
Not the news any of you wanted and it's hard to handle at the start. We got the same news a couple of weeks ago. The shock has worn off now and we're underway with a different chemo protocol. Others, like Paul, have had a tumor removed from his lungs and are doing well. Keep the faith!

    Hi Rose,
I will definitely say a prayer for Ray. This cancer is such a ruthless beast.

I am sorry to hear this news about Ray
    Rose,

I am so sorry to hear this news. Ray has had such a battle over the last few months just to get through chemotherapy and get enough calories to survive. I am sure this news is like a punch in the stomach at this time.

You and Ray will be in my prayers

    Best Regards,

    So sorry, dear.
Adjust to this bad news and then move forward with a different protocol. Keep up the good fight. Hugs.

I am here for you always
    Dear Rose,

I have gone through same journey with my dad's EC Stage IV cancer.
I know exactly what you are going through.
Same thing happened to my dad and the cancer came back in his lungs, liver, and abdomen.
The gave him chemo to prolong his life but when it wasn't working and he got too sick, they stopped the chemo.

Unfortunately my recommendation is to keep your brother comfortable and focus on quality of life which will be much better without chemo and radiation.
I know it is hard to hear because we want our loved ones to stay longer, however none of these treatments can help other than making his life misrable.

You and your brother are in my prayers.
Please forgive me if my comments have upset you in anyway.
That was truly not my intention, and I just wanted to share my expereince with this damn disease.

Love you and I am always here for you.
    With utmost respect,

    Thank you all...
Feeling so alone in all of this, it is hard to be the comfort I want to be to my mom when she is in denial and still waiting on that miracle.

This is how it is with my whole family.
I believe in miracles, I know God can send one right now to my brother, He's God, but I also know there is another side, that it may not be God's will to heal but time to go Home.

I get so angry at doctors that have no 'back bone' to them and keep offering treatment after treatment knowing it is not working.

The oncologist actually told my brother not to give up that they will start another chemo that they had given him when he was first diagnosed but had to stop because of insurance reasons.

The oncologist said the lesions in the lungs are small and this happens and you just have to change the treatment.
So he gives my brother another hope to grab to instead of talking to him about quality of life.
    The chemo begins this Wednesday.

Sometimes I wonder if it is a money issue. Doctors squeezing out the last bit of money they can from someone. Forgive me for saying that but it is how I feel sometimes.

The pain has increased so they increased the pain meds.
    Drugged up again.

I so wish he could have taken the PET scan but has to wait for the beginning of the year, which the new year is tomorrow but the onc. says 6 weeks of this chemo and then PET. He is waiting 7 more weeks to take the PET!
Doesn't the PET show more than a CT scan?? What if this cancer is in other places of the body that the CT scan couldn't pick up??

Loretta and Bill, I so wanted to call you when I got the news of the CT scan but didn't want to be a big cry baby on your shoulders.
I respect you two greatly and thankful for you both.

When I seen him at Christmas it made me sick to see what cancer can do to someone.

My heart goes out to each and every one of you suffering with this.

    May God help us all...

    This is hard
Rose, this is so hard. It is also hard to always know the best thing to do. We all want to believe that the next chemo drug will give us a little more time and sometimes it does. As a stage IV myself, I want as much time as I can have, knowing that I will eventually lose this battle. Fortunately for me I have very little side effects issue. That certainly helps. I will pray that you are able to realize some peace in all this and be able to deal with your brother and mom in a way that can provide a sense of hope for you all. Sam
