Went in for my maintance chemo today and asked about my blood work up mainly my CA125 had the blood drawn two days before. My CA125 jumped from 6 to 22 I did not like hearing that. My doctor wants me to get my blood work done again on the 10th of next month I usally get it every six weeks. If it is still up or gose up anymore I will have to have a cat scan to see if the cancer is back. I am a little nervas that I am out of remission it has been about three months now since I went into remission so not looking forward to having it comming back so soon.

    Don't panic
Ca 125 levels show significant daily variation. So a one-time change from 6-22 does not prognosticate relapse. While it is always wise to be careful about follow-up, it also makes people a little crazy to watch these numbers go up and down. Have a Merry Xmas.

    I understand
I understand what you are going through. My numbers started going up after I had a clean CT scan. The next scan showed the cancer was back after 2 months in remission. However, everyone's CA125 is different and can be all over the place. Any inflamation in the abdomen or the flu can throw off the numbers. Try not to panic but I know it is scary. The CA125 is a real source of anxiety for all of us.

Try to have a happy holiday and I wish only the best for you and your family.

I hope you get a better number
with your next bloodwork, Anne. My gyn/onc told me that he wouldn't be too upset if my number went into double digits because many things can effect the CA 125. Of course easy for him to say, right? My best to you.

this is just my first time
this is just my first time my numbers have gone up so I am a little on edge thank you for your kind words. I will know more on the 12th and will let you all know but I am praying they go down. My onc/gyn was more concerned about the amount of the jump not so much the number. I just 16 points and that was his concern.

    Have a very merry christmas

    Glad they are watching
It is probably nothing...it can also be a lab error. I had that one time. Something about the way the test is done leaves it open to error.
But that said, I know things like that put me over the edge. I start thinking things none of us should think.
I am glad they are going to recheck it for you soon and if it is something they will catch it early. Hugs!

so am I glad they are on top of this but my doctor has always been right on top of things. Now I only have to warry for three weeks instead of six. I have my blood drawn every six weeks. Thanks for all of your support and I am trying not to let it get to me but it is hard.
