We wanted to share with you the news of Dad's passing. He died last Wednesday, at home, surrounded by family. He died in peace, and we believe he was pain free. It was three months to the day since his first surgery at Moffitt, where we learned the cancer had metastasized.
He had showed signs of liver failure since his return from Kindred on December 2, and he grew weaker as the days went on. As long as he was able to speak, though, he was joking with us and with the hospice nurses, and he never complained about anything. When his hospice nurse asked him about his pain level, Dad said, "Seventeen." The nurse confirmed, "Seventeen? On a scale of 1-10?" And Dad looked at us, standing behind the nurse, with a mischievous look. When she asked again a few minutes later, he said, "I guess I better lay off the seventeen stuff, huh?" One of the last things he said before he grew too disoriented to speak was a question: "Will I be with you?" And he is.
We will have a small graveside ceremony for him tomorrow morning at Florida National Cemetery.
We want to thank all of you for your love and support for Dad during this journey. You were such a source of comfort and inspiration for him and for us. We may not be able to be on the forum as often, but you are in our thoughts and prayers and we will check in when we can.
May God bless you and keep you and give you abundant peace.

He is now with his Lord, no more cancer for him!!
So glad to hear he was pain free and his passing was peaceful.
Take comfort in knowing you will see him again, for our Lord promises us this that all those in Christ Jesus never die and we will see them again.
Prayers for God's strength and peace.0 -
HE will be missed as no other I know on this board I believe...
Linda, Jennifer, and Lisha,
Thank you for sharing dad's passing with us as I was staring to wonder yet again how he was and where he was.
No I KNOW. Michael is in Heaven and is finally pain free and I an all but SIRE he is down from that darn seventeen.
He is with the lord and at peace and no longer needs meds and has NO MORE Earthly PAIN EVER AGAIN! For that, I am so grateful.
Thank for for sharing his time with us and his never ending wit and humor and love. I loved your dad and will continue to until I join him in the not to distant future there in the Lords house.
With all the love and blessings possible.
I pray for the MOST beautiful service for Dad tomorrow possible, and I hope you are all there and able to share and it is as beautiful as he was a person in life daily. My heart is with you all; the WHOLE family.
With all of my love,
Eric0 -

So very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing but am glad that you say he did not appear to be in pain at the end and he kept that wonderful sense of humor even in his last days. I hope you all find peace and comfort in knowing that your Dad was well loved here and helped us all with his advice and insights. My thoughts and prayers are with you, thank you for sharing your Dad with us.

So sorry
We are so sorry to hear of Micheal's passing. How wonderful, though, to hear that he died peacefully, surrounded by his family. He will surely be missed, but he is in a much better place now. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Linda, Jennifer and
Linda, Jennifer and Lisha,
Three months seems so very short, but much of that time, I know, Michael was in pain and suffering. He had all of you by his side and I'm sure that eased his pain. Now you will need to support each other through your own pain. The memories of your loving father with endless humor will also be there for you, during this difficult time. If ever you need us, we on the board are here for you too.
Take Care,
Lee Ann0 -
So Sorry
Linda, Jennifer and Lisha,
I'm so sorry to hear of your fathers' passing. I looked forward to all of the updates he, as well as all of you, were giving us. I'm so glad that there was time spent with such a loving family, who took care of him till the very last day. He was one of the first people to write me when I first came on board, and I will miss him dearly. May the Lord bless all of you and keep you surrounded by his awesome love and comfort.

Your Dad is in comfort now.
Your Dad is in comfort now. We are glad he is no longer suffering.
He touched us deeply. His postings were full of hope and he was so
Willing to go for surgery and treatment. He wanted so to fight this terrible
Disease. He gave it his best and in his fight, he brought courage and
Will to us here. Thank you for letting us know. At his service, let it be known
That we bid him farewell with prayers for you all BMGky0 -
Sorry for your loss
You have been so kind to keep us up to date with notes of Michael and his status. I'm glad that you were all able to be with him at the end.
I smiled at the "seventeen" comment. Bless Michael for being able to maintain a sense of humor through the rigors of EC and its complications.
Florida National Cemetary? That's the Veteran's Cemetary for your area, right? The Vet's cemetarys are beautiful right now. Wreaths Across America makes sure the every headstone or columbine wall plaque has a wreath. We just visited the Iowa Veteran's Cemetary 2 days ago. What a place of honor for your dad's final resting place.
I'm glad Michael has found peace. I hope you all have some comfort in knowing you brought the best to your dad and he was grateful for you. Enjoy your memories of his good days!
With much love & many hugs,

I am so sorry to hear about Michael
Linda, Jennifer, and Lisha
I will always remember Michael for his positive attitude and his determination. He was a great resource to our board and always had something upbeat to say in his posts. I am so glad that he had the opportunity to be home surrounded by the people who loved him during the last days of his journey.
May God welcome Michael into his loving arms and provide you and his family with peace during this difficult time.
With my condolences,
Paul Adams

Thank so much for letting us
Thank so much for letting us know about your dad. I have followed so many friends on the board and it's heartbreaking when one leaves us, but we know he's not suffering anymore and it's not a goodbye, but rather "I'll see you later,"

Thank You
Thank you for let us know about your dad. I am so sad right now. I know he is in a better place but we had plans John & I and Your Mom & Dad were going to go to PJ's on Indian Rocks Beach (for Grouper Sandwiches) when he and John were feeling better. Your dad was one of the biggest cheer leader on this site when I first got here he was so up lifting and encouraging when I first joined the site.
I hope that you all are doing OK and know that if you need a shoulder to cry on we are here for you all!
Please stop by when you can and lets us know how you are doing.
