Chemotherapy how long after the side effects wear off?

Hi
My Dad has chemo for 3 days (originally was suppose to take for 2days but the doctor thought it will be too much for him so he took it in 3 days). He is still very tired and fatigue after 4 days. Can anyone tell me when the after effects will wear off and he is more to his normal self? I realize it depends from person to person but average that a person will feel better after 3 round of chemotherapy? And anything to help with the side effects?

Thanks
Zoe

    I asked the Oncology nurse
I asked the Oncology nurse that questions just yesterday! She said each patient is different. She said anywhere from one month to three months depending on the myriad of circumstances, type of chemo, type of cancer, age and fitness of patient, etc.

It all takes time. I just wonder if, after the side effects wear off, we'll get the same person back! I miss my "regular" mom. My current mom is not who she really is. Does this make any sense? Oh well. Ignore me.

Thanks Ginny B and William for the prompt reply sorry it took me sometime to reply ... William, let me answer your question.. yes my Dad has only 3 rounds of chemo so far but he is schedule for another one on 6th of jan ..even the first one has such an effect on him it will be very very challenging for him to have this 2nd one and we are not looking foward to it but must be done but before that we might take off to bangalore too or wait will he finished his 2nd round ..let me get home first .. will be going home tomorrow that's why am so busy packing etc that I replyed so late...I hope you had a nice christmas ..we too are christian but I admit didnt go to Church often but I went to Church for the first time here in shanghai (after 4 years living here)on Christmas day ..I am sorry to say it took me my Dad's illness to get to the church here ..

God work in myterious way..kind of wake up call for me
    ..
Anyway, William , I am listening to you we kind of got a Doctor to look at my Dad's report in Bangalore and its kind of hopefully please keep your fingers cross for us and pray for us .
Like I said before let me go home first then the action will begin ..its kind of difficult as I am so far away at the moment. And William like you said radiation + chemo seems to be the best .. even in all that I've read...

Will keep you posted once I am at home

I remember You and Lorretta always in my prayers and also the rest of the guys here ...I know its hard but keep up the spirit.

    Love to all

Zoe, I am also a christian.
Zoe, I am also a christian. Even though I went to church regularly, the cancer made me so much closer to the Lord. I don't know how I would have made it without my faith. From the beginning of my journey I prayed for it to be God's will. When I would go for chemo I prayed over it. I called it God's juice's, because of it's ability to kill the cancer.
I was stage three and am still cancer free after four years. I thank God for each day, because it's not always His will to give us earthly healing, but He does promise to always be there for us. That promise was what kept me going when the road was rough.
