My brother is 3 yrs behind me in age and he his finishing proton therapy in chicago area.
His treatment center told him they and Loma Linda Hospital are now offering a trial proton treatment for low stage prostate cancer. You get the same dosage of radiation but its all delivered in 5 treatments instead of 45. Strictly volunteer program, but it is now an option for those who cna't afford a long term committment for proton therayp.

    Thank you
when you say, "option for those who cna't afford a long term committment for proton therayp." , does that mean that 45 is more effective for low stage prostate cancer.....or is 5 tretments just as effective?

I wish you brother the best

    You would get the same
You would get the same amount of radiation all packed into 5 treatments. I think this is spread over 2 weeks- 3 treatments one week, 2 the next. If you had a low grade cancer and perhaps older, you could become part of a test project.
