Thanks for the information Angela!!! I appreciate your concern.
I saw my primary Dr. today and mentioned it to him. He looked at it and said I have signs of localized lymphodema (the skin looks like an orange skin). Ugh - I give up! I really want this to clear for me, badly. I will call my oncologist to ask about this again, thanks for your suggestion. And I will def. let you know what happens. In the meantime, I'm having a sonogram of my entire abdominal area because of pains I've been having.
So glad you're feeling better. I hope it continues that way.
Hugs to you!!!
Good luck with your sonogram.

I was told I had that the second time around. He gave me the cipro for it and it worked. Did she ever think that the ones she gave you just aren't strong enough for for this?! If you look up cellulitits meds they list cipro or the one I was on before but you would be allergic to it since it is a cousin of penicillin. I would get a second opinion for sure because it just doesn't sound right. My rads onc. told me with the edema that the cipro would take care of it and it did until my latest outbreak. If it is edema the application of warm compresses and massage will help, but if the inside is infected you need an antibiotic that will work for it. The one you are on is more for mouth problems than body parts. So if you took one that isn't specified for the breast it will not do anything. I'm really confused as to why she put you on that in the first place. I have never been given that by anyone except my dentist! Please go to some-one who will listen to you and treat you correctly. You shouldn't be suffering this long with this!! I would ask for the cipro from who-ever you go to. It has worked 4 times for me in 10 days!!
I am feeling better, for now. Just finished my 10th day. Hopefully it will stay away this time or atleast longer than a month!! Let me know what you do. I am concerned about you : )
Hugs,
Angela

Any new updates on you Angela and LoveBabyJesus?
Hi sweet sister! For me, I will have to keep watching this and wait to see my Onco which is next month. It’s still swollen and heavy, but not as red as before. I really think getting a mammo right after radiation (a few weeks later) really made the situation worse for me. It wasn’t so bad until then, and not it is taking forever to heal. My onco is not so much in control and it bothers me. So I may need to raise the flag or eventually fire her. But as soon as I get any new updates I will def. keep you guys informed.
Thanks for checking on us!
Angela – I hope you’re much better by now. I will look into cipro and see if this would help me – now that the sono is done. May need to request another sono for that one breast. We’ll see.0 -

Thanks for updating us. If you feel your onco isn't doing his job, maybe a 2nd opinion? I will be watching for your update.
Take care,

After 10 days of cipro the redness has gone away. I don't know how long this will last as I woke up today with my bright red cheeks again. That is a sign that it isn't gone or is coming back. Only time will tell. I'm hoping it's gone for good but seriously doubt it. If it is coming back I may have to look into intravenous meds to get rid of it. I am just tired of having this over and over.
Why did you get a mammo right after rads? I was told that any mammo done before 6 months from rads will not show right. My rads onc said that there is so much going on onside the rads breast that a mammo would cause more harm than good. Are there any other doctors that you trust? If so I would go to them and ask for a sono to look for fluid that may need to be drained or even a round of cipro to see if that would help. Strong meds are needed to get rid of this!
Fingers crossed for both of us : )
Thanks Angie for asking~~~

My thought exactly. Why did I get a mammo after rads! UGH! This is Sloan - you would think they know what they're doing, right? I am very disappointed after the after treatment follow-ups, actually. My other choice is to either fire my Onco and get someone else at Sloan or go to NYU Medical Center or Mount Sinai for second opinions. I need to verify my insurance will pay for all of this since I'm already seeing some at Sloan. I will def. follow up.
I hope YOURS GOES AWAY FOREVER! I know what you mean about this getting out of hand already and wanting to do a more aggressive thing for it. UGH!!!!!!!
Please keep me posted.
