Ask your primary doctor for a chest X-ray....you may have pneumonia.....and if it's viral the antibiotics won't do much...shortness of breath and the cough go hand and hand with pneumonia...
Wishing you better days...

Symptoms
Dear Shannag,
The fact that you have had a clear PET scan a few weeks ago should reassure somewhat that it probably is a virus of some type. It is easy to be fearful at this stage of every ache, pain, cough, and etc. You stated that you have had lots of treatments, including radiation could be a factor for what you are experiencing. It could be just lingering side effects.
I do have mets to the lung and lining and knew that it was all back before my recent scan 12 days ago. I have a non productive cough, shortness of breath, a newer symptom of when I begin to speak, I loose my voice as I gasp for air. It rights itself fairly quickly if I stop trying to talk.
When I was first diagnose they told me inflammation was a real possibility that could give off the same symptoms.
How about asking your oncologist or primary for a quick x-ray to relieve your mind. Insurance company shouldn't balk at that inexpensive test.
Best wishes to you that it is something very benign.

Whooping Cough?
I live in a northwest suburb of Chicago and Whooping Cough is showing up in a number of our suburbs, including mine which is Park Ridge. Many adults are getting revaccinated to protect the young babies. It is very dangerous for the babies as it takes some time for them to get all the shots for immunity, especially if they were premies. It's hitting adults. As I understand it, whooping cough shot does not last forever and adults need to be revaccinated. It has been reported that 2 Teachers and some students have been infected and it is not confined to one school. Many parents are frightened and are going to their doctors for the vaccination.
I don't know if Whooping Cough is showing up in other parts of our country.
Lots of Hugs,

It could be pneumonia, like the other sisters said, but, you should still ask to have a chest xray done, just to be sure. Let us know what you find out.

lung
I think lung problems are the hardest to endure. My mother had emphyshema so I saw how lung problems bothered her. You are in my prayers.0
