Thank you for the suggestions- it works now! Apparently I was putting the screen on wrong. Don't know why I had such a hard time with it. It will only work when that screen is on correctly and the magnet is engaged. I think I may have been trying to force it on backwards- duh!!!
Glad for your suggestions, anyhow- now I won't have to go get a new one!
Lisa
P.S. Gail- sorry I hijacked your thread with my question on my juicer. Hope you get lots of juicing recipes. Emily posted many quite a while back- you may want to do a search for them.
How are you feeling Lisa? How is your new therapy going? I was going to respond to push for a replacement via warranty because those juicers are expensive! I know that when my brother comes home and offers to juice, it takes him 5 minutes to put it together. Not difficult, but just have to put it the right way.0 -

The difficulty that I find with juicing is the availabilty of organic supplies and the cost of them in this Northern Tundra we call Wisconsin. I do juice for my husband but can't always afford or find organic vegetables in our pudunk towm.0 -
juicing
I used to give mom: 2 beets, 2 carrots, 5 celery, and about one size of apple as a juicing every morning...she was a good patient, slurped it all down every morning. I always made it fresh every morning, never stored them as a juice...anyway, hope this helps.
All the best!
Cheers,

Lisalisa42 said:juicer just broke
I've been doing my juicing regimen and am bummed because when I went to use it two days ago, I prepared all the veggies and fruit, had things ready to go- plugged it in and switched it on and nothing happened. It's like it's totally dead. I tried it in different outlets, thinking at first the problem was my electrical outlet. Nothing. Nothing is caught in it- it just is completely dead. It's a "Champion" & had good reviews- was over $300. I've had it a little over a year & it really hasn't been used a huge amount, so it definitely shouldn't be broken. I don't think I saved any warranty papers from it or anything & I purchased it over the the internet- don't even remember from where. So, now I'm screwed and can't juice unless I get a new one. This time, I will buy it from a local store, not online, and will be sure to save warranty paperwork from it.
I'm thinking of the Vitamix (I think that's what it's called) from Costco- anyone have any experience with that one?
Lisa
I would search old emails using the juicer name for the search criteria to see if anything shows up. You might have luck. I'd also contact the company and explain your situation with when you bought it and more importantly, WHY you bought it. If his isn't a time to pull the cancer-care out I don't know when is.
Good luck,

if its dead its probably the auto cutoff safety magnet thats built into the washable section.
i got a champion, i bet you a cappacino they will fix it. i hope so.
if it helps i'll email my receipt. just bought a second one a month ago and gave my old one to my wifes parents.
i hope you get juicing soon.

not just flavourlisa42 said:also a dash of cinnamon
I've discovered that in addition to the above ingredients Sara listed, that adding a dash of cinnamon helps with the flavor.
Lisa
also cinnamon reduces post prandial blood suger spikes.
my juices taste so bad, no amount of cinnamon can help.

i am really sorry
1 carrot
1 small beet and leaves if fresh and green
1 radish
1 handful red cabbage
1 cup of broccoli
3 garlic gloves
some tumeric often
some ginger occaisionally
bok choy leaves sometimes
the powders i add after i make the juice is whats interesting
say 4 tableshoops acai bery powder
some mcp
some magnesium
some olive leaf extract
some grapeseed extract
some promigrante
if its anticancer i probably use it, but have forgotten
this mix was tested on some mice and they lived a long and happy despite having human prostrate cancer which in itself sounds impossible.
but thats what the uni researchers said, so if its good for mice it must work on humans. of course.
here is to being a juicing guinea pig
hugs,
pete

You are similar to me.sasjourney said:Hi Gail,
I juice just about every day and you will not regret it. It gives me more energy and is great for your skin as well. My recipe is usually:
4 carrots
3 celery
4 asparagus
handful of kale
handful of spinach
some beet
some ginger
1 granny smith apple
It really tastes great, but looks gross (green/brown). You will love it!
I have a Champion juicer and it works great.
Hugs,
Sara

Thanks to all who replied about my broken juicer and the vitamix! I didn't realize the Vitamix was so expensive. Hmmm... I'll have to check some out.
First though, Linda- thanks for the tip. Before buying anything new, I'll see if I can figure out if there's a magnet or something missing on mine too. My screen has always been very difficult to get into place, maybe I did something by forcing it into place.
Lisa
With regard to both appliances, you get what you pay for. Maybe eBay? Good luck.0 -

I find that these
Gail,
I find that these veggies are best for me (I have been juicing for years)
hand full of spinach or kale (or both)
carotts (lots of)
a bit of ginger
1 apple (golden delicious are my favorite)
go easy on the "green" veggies when you first start juicing. Make your "green" juice only about 1/4 of your drink with the rest being carotts and your apple or you might have some temporary gastric issues.
Very seldon do I juice fruit (other than the apple (always) with the veggie juice. (drink your veggies and eat your fruit)
And...a very important step (for me anyway) ALWAYS clean your juicer right away! Ha. If you don't... you won't like the juicer when you go to clean up later thus...you won't want to juice. I learned that the hard way! (have learned to clean juicer while I'm drinking/chewing the juice. Yes..I chew the juice. This gets your digestive enzymes working!)
Again...these are my opinons. There are other juice recipes out there and you have gotten many on here.
Happy juicing!

Claudia and everyone else thank you for the tips:) I'm curious about how the vege juice is going to taste. It doesn't sound too good but I want the benefits. I'm going to buy my juicer next payday hopefully.
