I have had
similar problems with an older laptop my wife uses, and my solution was to sell it.
If you have not tried it, run a security scan using a program like Malwarebytes. Stay away from any of the paid anti-spyware programs though.
Using Firefox is a good option, you might also want to try Chrome (my personal favorite).
What computer are you using and how old is it? The new Intel processors are pretty impressive, particularly in a laptop.0 -

I'll try running that security scan. I'm using an HP Media Center which is several years old, but has newer "guts" that my son installed about a year ago. I know what you mean about the newer computers. He has one that could probably fly an airplane. Unfortunately, a new computer is not an option for me. The problem I'm having on CSN started about 3 months ago and on the insurance site about 3 days ago. I'm using Firefox right now, which my grandson put on here to use for games, so I haven't used it except to try out the two websites. Guess I'll have to become familiar with it.

It's dificult to help without actually seeing all your IE settings,
but you can try this:
In IE
click Tools
click Internet Options
click Advanced
In the "security" section (near the bottom)
Make certain the "TLS" and "SSL" boxes are checked.
Reboot the computer to insure the changes are registered.
and
Using the Explorer:
Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open the "hosts" file using Notepad.
Look for a list of websites and their IP addresses.
Delete everything below 127.0.0.1 localhost
Save and exit.
Reboot
Let me know if that solves it, ok? There are a few more other
settings that can cause IE to stumble like that...
Stay well,

I think that was Bowser. Anyway, I never use spellcheck. I was the eighth grade spelling champion,LOL.
Thanks for your suggestion John. Malwarebytes didn't find any infected files, so I'll try your suggestions tomorrow. Can't use the UHC website tonight to test out the results. It's always partially restricted on Sunday night for maintainence.

It's just a very clunky browser I've found. I equate it to using a dial up modem to connect to AOL to see if "YOU'VE GOT MAIL". Chrome is fast and clean. You don't get 10 toolbars taking up pace t the top. I know you can hide them, but who really needs them all. One add on that doesn't work on Chrome but does work on Firefox and IE is FreeCorder. It's great for recording ANYTHING that plays over the Internet as either a wav or mp3 file. I like to use it with GrooveShark.com to record music. It also has a built in radio feature that lets you stream any station to your computer? It's cool if you like radio while at the computer.
Spelling champ...hmmm, let's see how good you are.
What word is always spelled wrong?0 -
Using Back Button
Usually I'll just click on the "colorectal cancer" link above and it brings me back to the topics page. I'm using IE also, but do have firefox. Try clicking on the link. Good luck.
