chemo nausea

No problems after first three Chemo treatments. Since fourth one, have been unable to keep anything down. Nauseous and vomitting. When does it stop? Last Chemo was four days ago.

    It's really hard to say, went through 8 cycles, the last two where rough for me, are you taking the anti nausea pill's? There are a couple on the market. See if your Onc. can change what you are taking now........ good luck Vinny

    Discuss with your medical team
    Discuss this with your medical team. They should have plenty of
    things to control nausea/vomiting. Also for me, constipation seemed
    to cause nausea when I experienced it. Hope it gets better.

    I went thru 6 cycles of R-CVP and never had any nausea at all. I am sure it was the anti-nausea meds I got after each chemo. The Prednisone kept me bouncing off the walls, but thats all the after effects I had except food had a metallic taste. What was your exact diagnosis? Take care, John(FNHL-4A-1-5/10)

    Nausea
    Call your nurse, like everyone said they can give you something to help. Did you keep taking the nausea meds or try to do it on your own? I've always heard it's hard to stop once it starts, so prevention is the key.

    The only time I really had any nausea and vomiting was from RICE chemo and the first day of the BEAM chemo for my transplant.

    Good luck and hope it stops soon. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated.

    Good point about when to start anti nausea meds
    I agree. I was told by the oncology nurses it was important
    to take the anti nausea meds before a problem starts - much
    harder after nausea starts. Note: for my treatments, I was in the
    hospital for 4 nights/5 days so I had nurses at my disposal, etc.

    I was very lucky. Only time I got sick was in the very beginning
    before my intestinal surgery and I had severe constipation. Early warning
    signs of nausea for me were excess saliva and a slightly off taste in my mouth.
    I knew that was when to ask for/take nausea meds. Also, I kept mints around
    for the slightly off taste.

    First treatment..first week...
    I never did get sick during my CVP-R chemo. The very first treatment and first week I took the Zofran prescribed, but found it made me goofy acting so I quit taking it. It was probably the prednisone making me so goofy, but I did knowtice feeling somewhat "less" goofy after I quit the Zofran. From then on I didn't take anything, nor did I get sick....guess I was one of the lucky ones in that area. I did however have constipation issues from the Vincristine, but once I started taking Senocot(2 tabs daily) everything straightened right out. The prednisone was the "beast" for me during chemo!!!! I hate even saying the word...ha! Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)
