blood sugar reducing strategies UPDATED new proof, spend 1 minute to read lef article

my diet is no sugar, i am sweet enough.
i am still interested in the science behind what is a healthy blood sugar level.
who wants to beat crc and have a stroke ? not me.
based on the current lef magazine's article on blood sugar.
i am on green coffee bean extract.
other advise from a recent conference advised cinnamon before meals.
not seen it mentioned here before so here comes another part of the my protocol.
http://www.naturalnews.com/025590_cinnamon_blood_sugar.html
some evidence also exists that reducing sugar helps with neuropathy, at least for diabetics.
given neuropathy is so bad for us folfoxers, i figured this worth sharing.
hugs,
pete
ps i am getting a little scientific and measuring my blood sugar levels as a bit of an experiment. i also have to measure my body temperature basal as the iscador should raise it by 1/2 a degree. i am also measuring my blood pressure just for the fun of it. i am mainly interested in the after meal sugar spikes that i am hoping to avoid.

Cancer cells steal sugar (glucose) away from good cells.
Cancer cells steal sugar (glucose) away from good cells.
Cancer cells steal sugar (glucose) away from good cells.
If you try to "starve" cancer by limiting glucose intake, you will
starve your good cells even more, and give cancer a better chance,
since the good cells are already being starved by the cancer.
Your good cells are part of your immune system, do you
really want to starve them?
Late term cancer patients lose weight due to the lack of
glucose they have available, since the large amount of cancer
cells are using so much glucose to live.
You will not kill cancer cells; you will not starve cancer cells
by withholding the intake of glucose, but you will be causing
more suffering to your good cells by doing so.
Best hopes for you.

That is something to think about, John. Quite interesting. I had wondered if limiting sugar during chemo was a good idea, thinking that making the cancer more active with more nutrition would attract more chemo to them, thereby contributing to their death. But that was just a theory I had. Didn't read anything about it.0 -

I've always felt that a well-rounded diet is the absolute best
way to remain healthy.
"Juicing" provides a way to get all the things we don't care to
eat whole, into our bodies in more tasteful way, and can help
us to get more of what our body needs.
I really don't understand the rush to buy every berry and pit
being sold that carry promises to help us better fight cancer.
There are more scams and gimmicks that drain wallets, time,
and hope, than there are anything of serious merit.
I do strongly favor Traditional Chinese Medicine, when provided
by a practitioner well educated with that modality.
I wish I could encourage more people to at least take TCM
seriously and explore it's ability to offer a real cure for many ailments,
rather than the "just fix the symptom" practices of "modern medicine".
Making a symptom "go away" doesn't cure the real problem
causing the symptom.
It's like not consuming glucose in an effort to starve cancer cells....
Imagine having a hole in the bottom of your car's gas tank,
knowing that it will probably be empty by the time you arrive
home. Would a viable solution be - to put less gas in the tank?
(I dunno', maybe I'm crazy...?)
Best health wishes to you and yours!

I thought I'd voice my opinion based on personal experience. My diabetic husband has been taking cinnamon pills(1000mg) for quite a while to help with his blood sugar and it seems to help. Of course that's along with insulin and various other supplements. In his case however, lowering his blood sugar does not help the neuropathy. As long as he take 600mg Alpha Lipoic Acid, the neuropathy is better controlled.(And thank you again to the person who brought that to my attention a couple of years ago. It does work for some people.) I hope the addition to your new regimen is helpful.

The body has an alternate fuel cycle to glucose, ketone bodies from the breakdown of fats, especially beta hydroxy butyrate (aka 3 hydroxy butyrate). BHB has interesting properties that some researchers believe it to be protective of normal cells, in Alzheimers, too.
Medium chain triglycerides are the premier fat in this case. Where do we find high amounts of MCT? Most of all coconut oil, with some refined brands being 100% MCT, and olive oil, also known for its omega-9 monounsaturated content.
The criticism of many Atkins diet implementations is excess protein (real Atkins diets can be without the protein), not ketosis from fat burning, although that needs special consideration too. For one thing, vitamin C requirements are much higher.0 -
Glucose/Insulin
Pete,
I'm with you on this one. I've been following a "low glycemic" diet for almost 2 yrs, and feel it has contributed to my good results so far.
BTW, lots of web research will technically tell you it's not the glucose itself, but the resulting insulin-like growth factor level increases (and especially the big spikes) which are so bad for cancer patients, as they can promote cell growth and inhibit apoptosis. Googling "IGF-1 and cancer" will give you enough reading material on this for months.
I too hear cinammon can reduce glucose/IGF levels. And eating smaller meals more often will of course help control levels vs. a few large meals. And of course you want to eat mainly foods with low glycemic load; these take longer to digest and therefore help reduce IGF spikes. Unfortunately this means cutting way down on sugar intake, as well as baked and processed goods, potatoes and rice, to name a few...so it can be a tough diet for most of us to follow too closely!0 -

until my green coffee bean extract arrives i am trying to buy green coffee beans to chew.
hahaha!!!
spoke with the top integrative doctor in sydney today and explained i am measuring my post prandial blood sugar levels. he smiled.
he is going to a conference in chicago i think to discuss ctc's.
i have given him a few things to contemplate.
i now have the top conventional and intergrative team accessible to me.
sugar is simple, its bad, just read lef, or 1000s of other articles on excess sugar levels.
if you have to add it to your coffee, then drop the coffee, that what i did, but you all can do what your gut tells you.
i lost another close friend today to stage 4 breast cancer, she was clear 12 years, and this is my war on my cancer, one of us will die, it want be me if i can help it.
if i get past 100 i'll relax the protocol, cancer is a life long illness in my books.

The food industry paid plenty for "studies", and propagated their
contorted data to convince the public that "white sugar is bad".
Doing that, enabled them to use cheaper sweeteners, like high
fructose corn sugar, Aspartame, and an entire boatload of other
"better than sugar" products. Each of those products taste sweeter
than sugar.
Now of course, new studies seem to be indicating that all those
phony substitutes may be the root cause for the surge of diabetes.
Apparently (from what they're seeing), fooling the brain into
thinking that the body is getting a lot of sugar when it's not,
sets off the triggers for the supply of insulin; the pancreas
gets wrong signals. Fooling Mom Nature like that, isn't a
very good idea.
Humans have been eating plain sugar for thousands of years
without a problem.
Don't you think that the "sugar is a killer" mantra as the emergence
of the great sugar substitutes were released into the marketplace,
is suspiciously fraught with overtones of industrial greed?
There ain't nuttin' wrong with white sugar.
Everything in moderation, Pete..... everything in moderation.
Best wishes,

for me i want a super anticancer nutrient rich diet, so no white sugar for me.
i formed my view on reading this article from lef
http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2011/ss2011_Effective-Approaches-to-Blunt-Blood-Sugar-Surges_01.htm
ask me about moderation after i am 100, life is just to great, so i am right into life extension, not just beating crc. of course i got a few challenges like the cea ahead.
did you see my post about ctc's and my stage 3 and stage 4 tcm mix being sent to greece.
hugs,
pete
ps i am also buying green coffee beans from my old supplier coffee roaster who remembered me from 12 years ago when i was running a coffee shop. why pay for supplements when a cheap healthy alternative exists. i'll let you know if chewing raw green coffee beans causes any problems. i will compare my blood glocose result postpradial after meal say 1 hour and see if i have any difference. i will try to be scientific about this.0 -

john and all,
sometimes abstinance is the best way to go, not moderation. can you read this latest research and tell me to enjoy some white sugar ?
we agree and love tcm.
we disagree on diet. i appreciate you trying to help me understand some of the science i am missing, but so far the brute force approach is kind of working.
anyway sugar is a closed issue for me, we can all make our choices about diet.
i feel obliged at least to mention these articles as i believe they may help others make informed choices.
what about timing , and to have this new research hit the press. sucking and chewing green coffee beans just got a whole lot easier. i used my blood glucose monitor for the first time today. scored 5 fasting and 5.6 after dinner.
i trust my gut instinct for my choices and really appreciate the discussions, even if we disagree.

High blood sugar levels in older women linked to colorectal cancer
Friday, December 2, 2011. Elevated blood sugar levels are associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer, according to a study led by researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. The findings, observed in nearly 5,000 postmenopausal women, appear in the November 29 online edition of the British Journal of Cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the third leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the U.S.
Statistics compiled by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 2007 (the most recent year for which figures are available) show that 142,672 Americans were diagnosed with colorectal cancer, including 69,917 women; the 53,219 deaths from colorectal cancer that year were divided almost equally between men and women.0 -

Pete, I read this, seems they say it's due to the chlorogenic acid......apples also contain this, not to put down what you're doing, but are they claiming the coffee beans are somehow different from the same substance in apples?? Just asking. I always look at what people are doing/taking for different approaches and I look to see if I am spending money on what would basically be a repeat of what I am already doing.0 -

a balanced diet of just amazing fuits and vegetables seems to have so many benefits i cannot
keep track of them.
i am doing all the natural foods and the supplements. its too easy to pop the vitamins and i don't want to risk being short on essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
