Hi Laura
I too am a Dad and understand where you are coming from. We don’t understand why anyone gets this stuff but I know nothing can happen without my Lord Jesus knowing the reason. Maybe he needs another Job as in the Bible we don’t know but we do know he will always be there with all who love Him. I will keep your Dad in my prayers and also pray for you to be strong, just remember whatever happens he will be in the hands of his Savior.
Praying for you & Dad while in God’s workshop

hi Laura,
your dad is definitely a fighter. So is my dad, who is currently fighting stage IV lung cancer mets to the spine. My dad is coughing and wheezing in his sleep as I'm typing out my comment. The poor guy has lost his wife, my mom less than a year ago to cancer as well. We didn't really get to grief her death yet and now we on another battle.
Laura, just believe he will beat this. He's been through so much and he beat all those odds. If our fathers are fighters, we can't give up on them so easily. You and your father are in my thoughts.
best wishes,

My dads been
Hi niki,
My dads been fighting since 2005 and he was diagnosed with stage 4 in 2009 and through all that he came home after a year and a half after a hospital gave him the wrong blood transfusion...i know from your post that you have faith so hold on to that and to God because he is the only one that can reverse this for both of our dads..i know exactly what you are going through...My dad is my world...he means everything to me...i pray he gets his sensation and every feeling back in his legs and walks again...and if we just believe in our hearts then i know they will both be okay...
My dad has been through so much but i can tell you one thing...he never gave up and neither did i ...and just lift up your dad and do all you can do, every day i spend with my dad is a gift..i didn't have no one for those 7 months when my dad was on ventilator...i had to trust and put every hope in God...
if you have a doctor that is not willing find another doctor..in 2009 one doctor said to me and i will never forget that moment he said "u can have so much hope and he has 6 months" meaning to me that he wasn't going to put all into my dads situation...my dad was another number to him but to God my dad is somebody that will surpass all the challenges that anybody has set for him
i transferred my dad to our original doctor who is one hour and a half from our house...if their was a will theirs also God on my side..i drove and my dad started agressive treatment...my gma passed away 2 months before my dad got sick...she lived with us since we were babies...i broke down and was upset but i did all i can do to transfer my dad to another hospital...i sent him to a hospital thats an hour and a half...then he was on life support from virus/wrong blood for 7 months...transferred him to long term acute facility, then to Rehab where he was weaned off vent...my dad was given a blood pressure medication on top of his foot that killed all good tissue and they said he wasn't going to walk...my dad surpassed everything and tried but our time at the facilty was up so then was transferred to another facility that overdosed him and wouldnt accept him after he got into hospital..but then i transferred him to acute rehab and then home...So anything is possible...THEIR IS HOPE!!!! NEVER FORGET THAT! I believe in my heart my dad will be good
For your dad do breathing treatments...and have them start Zometa for spine mets it helps with pain and prevents fractures...even try Tarceva which is a chemo pill...if you need any advice trust me I am up to par with everything bc of everything that has happened..i will also pray for your dad...My dads name is Samir!0 -

Hi Laura,
Hearing that your dad has been fighting from stage 4 since 2009 gives me a lot of hope about my father. I don't know if my dad doesn't really understand the severity of his disease or he is just plain hopeful. I hope and pray that strong will to live will get him through this.
He is currently very fatigue after 4 months on Tarceva, which did not work. He has pleural effusion and had to have his lung fluid drained once every 2 weeks. I feel like it was a mistake to encourage him to take Tarceva. He was doing fine with chemo. My sister in-law did researched and found out about some molecular drug that extended her aunt's life by 14 years and kept pushing us and the doc to have my dad on it. I had no idea what it was. Turned out it was tarceva. Soon after, his condition seems to deteriorated. It's so depressing and heart breaking to see my dad in so much suffering. As if he didn't suffer enough, having to care for my mom and seeing her body get weaker and weaker. He was her soul caretaker. He barely slept and ate while taking care of her. Little did we know he was already living with cancer. Sorry I'm just rambling on... I'm just so tired and completely heart broken that my parents have to suffer like this.
Thank you for your info on Zometa. I've never heard about it. I'm posting from Canada where we have free public health care. However, we don't get to choose who our oncologist is. The one we have is very knowledgeable doesn't honestly I don't feel that he cares about cancer patient nor their families. He seems to just go about doing his job, but will not go the extra mile to help us. The last visit we had with him, his tone was rude and inconsiderate. They did a pet-scan on my dad and had known the results but did not book to see to him until 3 weeks after. During this time, my poor dad was in pain, coughing, had difficulty sleeping and all the other nasty cancer stuff he was feeling when the doc couldn't have had him in sooner and started his chemo sooner. When we finally saw him, he was rude and disrespectful to my father and somehow assumed that we wanted to cease all treatments. We never once said that or imply that we wanted to cease treatment. What on earth was he on?? Then he went on saying how my father's generation (he's 62) refuse to take pain meds even when they need to. Yes I have a feeling my dad is denying the level of pain he's experiencing and probably tries not to rely so much on pain meds. Honestly no matter what a patient does, it is completely up to them and understand that it's not easy having to deal with cancer emotionally. Why do these people go into the medical field when they don't care about emotional well-being of their patients or even have any respect for people in general?
sorry laura for being so negative and going completely off topic. sometimes i think i need help myself. our family is broken because of cancer. we used to have mom and dad to spend weekends with. now mom is gone and dad is fighting for his life. we live in another province in canada. i have to bring my 2 year old to live with my father so that i can care for him. my sibblings are either too young or too immature to really provide any support. before my mom got sick, my parents had a lot of friends who used to call and spend time together. now i don't see any of them nor receive one phone call from them. it just disheartening how our lives turn out.
thank you for sharing your dad's name. his name resonates to me as a warrior and he will beat this beast called cancer! my dad's name is Nam. i pray and hope the same for my dad too. i love him too much to see him like this.0 -

I know what you are
Niki,
I know what you are going through trust me! You have to stay strong and show your dad no fear. Be their for him and be kind, gentle, and loving. Your dad is strong also to take care of someone that is sick. Now you are the caretaker. Just know through this experience that God is making you Stronger and you sound like you believe in your dad. Have faith even if its small as a mustard seed..it goes a long way. My dad is everything and he always used to go to work and do everything for our family. Sometimes their are good days and bad but all in all they are human. They hurt and they say things that upset us but in reality they are human and they are scared. Hold on tight and know if you ever need anything i am here for you. God is loving and kind and thier is a reason why things happen but know when I had no one I knew God was on my dad and my familys side. God can and will reverse this for both of our dads.
My dad started tarceva got a nasty rash looked like a chemical burn and eye was swollen shut...I asked the doctor what we do to get rid of symptoms and its simply to get off the medication believe it or not...My dads been on it for a couple of weeks...
Just like you I get scared but fear is not of God...pray over your dad and know that their are other people that are going through something similar to you... Sometimes I cry bc all I can think about is my dad.. My brothers (who are younger) and mom are all i have to help me..I have two sisters that are so caught up in their life and too selfish to see...Your doing the right thing..Know God is near and all you have to do is call on him...what really helped me is Jodie Osteen a terminal liver survivor...they gave her no hope and basically sent her home to die... she went and prayed scriptures of healing over and over and over..You have to plant the seed...just Believe in yourself and your dad..
Do raw fruits and vegetables...Also watch a video through www.youtube.com and it shows how vitamin C intravenously vanishes cancer...i am trying to get an appointment set to see a holistic doctor...

Hi Laura,
Hearing that your dad has been fighting from stage 4 since 2009 gives me a lot of hope about my father. I don't know if my dad doesn't really understand the severity of his disease or he is just plain hopeful. I hope and pray that will power to live will get him through this.
I'm just so exhausted and feel completely alone in this whole situation. Sometimes I think I need help myself. Our family is broken because of cancer. Before I moved out, my sister and I used to spend our weekends with my parents. Now mom is gone and dad is fighting for his life. I now live in another province in Canada. I had to bring my 2 year old to live with my father so that I can care for him. Poor Livvy keeps saying she wants daddy and wants to go home. How do you respond to a child who is too young to comprehend. She was with my for 8 months last year to spend time with my mom. Again, her dad had missed out a chunk of her growing up. My sibblings are either too young or too immature to really provide any support. Before my mom got sick, my parents had a lot of friends who used to call and spend time together. Now I don't see any of them nor receive one phone call from them. It just disheartening how when we are struggling the most, people turn their back on you. I wonder if there is such thing as true friendship and kindness in this world. I find that I receive kindness more often now from strangers than from people who we thought will be there for us.
Thank you for sharing your dad's name. His name resonates to me as a warrior and he will beat this beast called cancer! My dad's name is Nam. I pray and hope the same for my dad too. I love him too much to see him suffer.
