anti-anxiety issues? 3 month chest x-ray

Hello everyone,

I had my 3 month chest xray this wednesday, and I have the follow-up next Tuesday with my Urologist to go over the film and report. When I finished the chest x-ray, they gave me a sealed CD and sealed envelope with the report in it with my Urologists name on it. They told me to take the CD and envelope to my docotr. When I called before the appointment they said they could not give me the report since my doctor needed to see it first.

Soooo, this has my anxiety level way up. My doctor and urologist mentioned anti-anxiety medicine which is only taken when you are having high anxiety. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

For me, I just want to rip open the envelope and get this over with rather than waiting till Tuesday. Am I on the honor system here?

    Nonsence
    BG,

This is rediculous. If they did not want you to see it they could have faxed or emailed it to the Urolgist. More so if the report showed something. The chest xray is a routine test following RCC sutgery and is most often negative for RCC (spreading). Sometimes there is a lot of nonsence in the results which shows something inocuous. I would take a look as the only one you might offend is the rediologist. The choice is yours. Others may chime in differently.

    Bedt wishes,

    Just open it.
The records belong to you not the doctor. It is interesting how we all assume that the "Experts" have to be in control of our health. Of course, you might find that the results or the report really don't you much but just go ahead and open the envelope and take charge of your health. Questioning the doctors is what we all have to do to make sure that we are in control of our own situation. Once you move from letting them drive to being in the drivers seat, this disease gets easier to deal with. The decisions ultimately should be yours.

    God Bless!

    Open the envelope!
This is your information! You don't have to feel funny about it or apologize for it! I can understand that for some, medical terminology can create more anxiety if you can't figure out what they're saying. BUT, I think most of us here have a pretty good grasp on the meaning of these reports. I always request a copy of the report (and my own copy of the scan) on the day it's done. Sometimes I get the report before the doctor - and most definitely before I see the doctor again.

Take care of you - first and foremost!

    I opened it
Thanks for reassuring what I felt. I opened it and it said all is clear. That makes me feel good, so now I wait for the 6 month CT.

Take care all, I'm thinking and praying for you all.

    Anti anxiety meds
Take anti anxiety meds if you need to. Just don't drive or go to appointments with your doctor when you are trying to learn about your cancer. Jill

    anxiety
When I picked up my cd of my scans, I brought them home and loaded them into my computer. The pictures and reports were there. It was interesting to see them.

    The disc
I know if they ever give me the the disc and tell me not to open,I would be calling the next two hours claiming that I lost the disc ,this way I would have two disc, one for me to load onto my comp and look at and one for my urologist..
