puts all of lives sadness, and confusion into perspective. We all have a choice .. we can either 'laugh' or cry -- while dealing with our breast cancer, and all its multiple side efforts -- which includes, hair loss for we 'Chemo Queens'.
Good for you!

I went to church last Sunday with pretty normal hair, only slightly thinner. I came home from church with itchy, loose feeling hair and began running my fingers through it. Three sink fulls later, I was almost bald! In ONE day??!! Needless to say, I was traumatized, but am slowly adjusting. The waiting was the worst I think. Day after day of counting the days and waiting til you're BALD can cause insanity!!
I agree humor helps alot. I'm not quite ready for anyone elses humor though. Still too sensitive. Now I need all the tips on how to do this. What I find irritating already is that I have to have something on my head all day. I still have some hair, not much at all , but with even a scarf, it gets hot. I live in Tucson, Arizona...hot. My children who are still young don't want to see me without hair. Besides scarves, hats and a wig, are there any other clever ideas or tricks anyone has learned? Also, I'm very nervous about wearing a wig in public, feels so artificial. That's because it is!0 -

When my son (2 years old) saw my bald head for the first time he looked at me smiled put his little arms around my whole head and hugged me. I cried. It does not bother him at all,at first he would come up and just rub my bald head now he is used to it.
I only feel comfortable in public wearing a wig. I have a few different ones,my favorite i paid $54.00 you honestly can not tell that it is a wig,It has a part that looks natural. The shop I purchassed it from has a private room that you can go in a try wigs on. Some kinds are very bulky if you go to a shop they can help you find one that is more comfortable and will work well for you.0 -

I was 45 when I was diagnosed and my son was 5. I started chemo shortly after I turned 46. My son,Jake, came with me when I got my head shaved and he got a buzz cut to show his support for me. I only wore baseball type hats when I dropped him off at school and never wore hats or scarves any other time.
At Easter that year he took his washable markers and drew colored Easter eggs on my bald head before we went to church--yes we got some strange looks but he was happy he had his mom beside him that day and we still talk about that day. Jake has asked me each Easter if I would shave my head again so he could color Easter eggs on it.
In just a few wks it will be 3 yrs since I was diagnosed.
Jake and I make every day special and memorable. I am happy to say that this Christmas we will be flying to warm Florida from cold Maine and having the time of our lives and meeting more Pink Sisters while we are down there.
We are both happy and healthy and each day we are thankful for each other and our family and friends.
TIP: when those little nubs of hair really start to bother you use a lint brush that has the tape on it and roll it over your head a few times a day--it works great.
Hugs,

Have a great time in Florida!
My hair was slow but Ihardly remember it, except when we went out with friends the first time I went topless and my husband kept rubbing my head. The more "feeling good" he got the more often until i had to nicely ask him to stop.
BTW my eyebrows fell out one more time then my lashes about 3 times then it stopped!0 -

Lint brush!! Genious!! THAT'S what I need. The shedding, (eventhough it's super short) is driving me nuts.
The Easter egg memory surely will always be so special for you and your son...for years to come. I'm not that outgoing at ALL, but whatever works for you.0 -
Hair
I finished chemo in May 2011. One day this summer I was sitting in a meeting at work with all men. I rubbed my finger across my chin and I realized MY KNUCKLE HAIR WAS BACK! I was SO happy! But, I didn't thing the guys would appreciate it. Now my head hair is back, I am keeping it short. I feel like letting it grow long would jinx things. I don't know why hair loss is so dang traumatic. I am sorry you have had to lose your hair twice.0 -
