Me too
I just started rads last week. I had planned on taking vacation the week after Christmas and asked if it was ok to skip a few days. My onc also said it wasn't a good idea. I agree it doesn't aseem to make sense. Rads everyday except weekends and holidays.
I'm sure one of our sisters here know the reason why.....right?????

I missed 5 days because I had an infected burn, per their suggestions so I've done it (for obvious reasons) and they didn't seem concerned.0 -

I was told, only for a really good reason, could it be skipped..bad burning, etc...in other words, for a medical reason....
Best to ask and listen to what your radiation oncologist says....This whole bc thing sucks so bad!!!!!!!!

days but not all at once. The most I went was 3 without a treatment. I would do whatever my onc says.

My rads oncologist didn't want me to miss any treatments, which I didn't. They will let you if you get really burnt where your skin needs a break, but, that is all that I know.
I think if you miss too many, the rads treatment isn't effective, and, perhaps those cancer cells that are still lurking around could move somewhere else? But, that's just what I think.

but not all together. It was interesting because the missed days were all on their terms and that seemed to be just hunky dorey with them. I was very worried about missing a treatment (I worry) even though the missed treatments were added on the end. I had rads at this time last year and there were 2 holidays and 2 times the machine was broken. When Thanksgiving rolled around, they were open on the Friday, and I whined about already having missed 4 tx. So I got to come in on the Friday, but if I hadn't whined, I would have missed another one. I just didn't like the idea of missing another one.0 -

I missed one due to the Labor Day holiday, but they had me off for a month due to the burns and blistering. I finished the boost treatments but they did it around the one burn that was still healing. They decided that one area had had enough treatment. If the break messed up the treatment, they didn't tell me that it did. They just said that they didn't want to make me suffer with the burns...I did what they told me to do. Is that helpful?0 -

My friend who was taking chemo came down with a cold about 1/2 through her treatment. She hated not being able to take chemo but she only missed probably 1 or 2 treatments. She is a 16 year survivor and has had no problems since.
She drank alot of orange juice during her treatments to help her from getting sick or a cold.Still when she got a cold she bounced back quickly and continued her treatments.

I never missed, except the machine was broken one day, so I couldn't go then.
I think some people missed on a Fri. or Mon. for family trips, etc., but I never
needed to.0
