rising cea again!
I am on the 7th round of xeloda with the last to be next month. now i have to go early on dec. 2nd for blood work so they have the next cea reading, while i am there. I had a mammogram and am waiting for those results. So its gonna be a long week.
I am going to north carolina for thanksgiving. the pa. side is coming to meet with the fl. branch. Lots of fun planned and again I must keep quiet til i have the results. Again i must live with the knowledge that i have to tell my family the beast is back. And again i use you all to vent so i can get through this celebration without ruining it for everyone. I may be premature, but for me a rising cea has always meant it was back. even these low numbers are how it started before. so it seems i am back where i started. waiting, and you all know what that is like.
but while i wait, i will count my blessings and send prayers to you all for a blessed thanksgiving. i plan to suck up every bit of laughter, give out lots of hugs and sit back and watch my amazing family enjoy each other.
Peace be with you all and thanks for listening. i will keep you posted.
Love,
Judy

So sorry to hear this. It seems that "you can run, but you can't hide" from this awful beast. So many people get clear scan results and good cea's and then for whatever reason, it comes back. I hope this is a false alarm. Please enjoy the holidays with your family.

I asked a similar ? In early October, and received excellent responses. I'll make the link in HTML tomorrow. Too tired now. The responses were so helpful. http://csn.cancer.org/node/227529

Not much rise
That is not much rise and it could just be a fluctuation in the reading. Hoping that you can go back in after chemo treatments and get it rechecked. Mine went up during treatment, slightly, so maybe it is just from the chemo. I'm not one for keeping my feelings in because I wear my heart on my sleeve and everyone can tell. That's wwonderful you are trying to spare your family's feelings but that would be so hard for me. Prayers are with you that it is a false alarm.

Happy Holiday
Judy, send me a cyber-slice of turkey and dressing, won't you?
We're out of the holiday b'ness these days, so no dinners or celebration for us personally.
Wishing you and everyone a wonderful time with your family and friends.
I'd keep any cancer news off the table - it's a wonderful family gathering, so instead of raining on the parade - just break out the umbrellas, instead:)
You can always clue them in at a later time, if the news is not what you want to hear. But, I'm so hoping that it's good news.
BTW, thank you so much for your warm and heartfelt post the other day - always nice to hear from you:)

I didn't understand well how
I didn't understand well how CEA works, before they found my colon cancer i had 1,2 so the tennis ball that was my cancer never showed up from this blood analysis.....everythink looks like made on purpose to drive us mad!!!!!
Good luck my friend, hopefully is a fake alarm.....love,
