Time to rejoice!
"The only slightly warm residual area of adenopathy is just lateral to the left lobe of the thyroid gland, with a max SUV of only 2.7, and this node is markedly reduced in size from the prior 3cm size to now 1.7cm and triangular or shrunken rather than bulging.
Impression: No evidence of any residual metabolically-active adenopathy is seen, marked reduction in size or complete resolution of much of the previously noted massive adenopathy in the mediastinum and abdomen."
I think that is pretty good, isn't it? The only thing I noticed is that the tumors on his peritoneum were not mentioned. Will have to ask about that. The onc even said something to the effect of the possibility of a cure if things kept going in this direction. Was shocked!
Anyhow, today we rejoice--as soon as I get over the stomach flu!!

So happy
I am so happy to hear this great news. A friend of ours was diagnosed with extensive abdominal and mediastinum nodes. He had them into his neck as well. He had 6 months Folfox and Avastin and they all resolved in 6 months of treatment. He had his 7 year NED this past April. Sounds like you are on that same path!

for all of the kind replies! I am feeling much better this morning. My daughter assured me this was a fast bug and it seems to be--not even 24 hours. Yea!!
As I pondered his scan results, I realize I have a few questions that need to be asked before getting excessively excited. Wish the written results were more extensive since I don't know how to read the CD's of the scans themselves. May make an appointment with the radiologist and talk with him tomorrow.0 -
Congrats!!!
I know my heart would leap if I heard the word cure and my mom's name is the same sentence. Congrats!!! It's also great to have an onc who shares his optimism. Hope you guys do something to celebrate.0 -
