So sorry Melanie...its
So sorry Melanie...its heartbreaking to loose a pet, cuz some are more like family members than they are pets.
I lost my sunshine not long ago and she was so attached to me for some reason, and during my cancer treatments she would not leave me alone...we were attached hip to tail...haha!
I sadly had to do the horrific task of putting her down cuz she was in pain and suffering... i cried like a baby and it still hurts that shes gone...i miss her dearly.
So i know how you are feeling and thats why im so sorry!
Cyber hugs to you Melanie0 -
I am so sorry that I am just
I am so sorry that I am just now getting to respond to your post. Our four-legged family members are such integral parts of our lives~ they truly do love us unconditionally and bring us such joy and comfort. None of us who has lost a pet does it easily~ our hearts are forever changed. And when we decide to bring a new four-footer into our homes and hearts, it isn't a replacement, it is another pet to share the love with. I hope you can feel our love for YOU, and know that your sweet Toots was calmed and comforted being where she needed to be~ with you. ((((((hugs))

I am so sad for you. Losing a loving pet is difficult for sure. We think of them as members of the family and never want to see them suffer or never think that some day they will be gone. After our last loss it took 2 years before we could get another furry family member.
Hugs,

Melanie, this is so sad and I am so very sorry. All of us that have pets know how hard it is to lose them.
I wish there was something I could say to ease the loss of Tootsie for you. Just know that we all understand and we all are sending our sympathy to you and your family.0 -

I have had such a hard day, trying to work and stay focused. It is a fog of a day~ I am so touched by all your comments and care, and so appreciate your prayers for me (& family). My daughter moved home from college this summer and brought a black lab with her she rescued~he happily greets me at the door, with a ball in his mouth.
My "shadow" as angela shared above, is no longer under my feet and following me~ it is an empty feeling indeed~ and Teresa, what a memory for you 20 years later of your buffy~ I am hopeful to eventually have another lap dog, to cuddle with again someday.
Thanks for your love girls!

They really are such a Big part of our lives.
My sweet angel the one in the pic, died about 6 months ago, very sudden and she also died in my arms.
This might sound crazy but I swear I can feel her paw prints on my bed at night, I sit up and look and her boyfriend Bear is sound asleep on the other side of me.
I miss her dearly and I feel for you, take care sweetie.
Lots of Hugs coming your way...Karie0 -

~ I was able to read posts tonight and not have tears streaming down my face. My family has been so wonderful~ My husband dug the hole, and my grown children all stood around me, holding me as i wept....we shared stories about tootsie and it brought some laughter to the moment, she truly was loved, and she loved us~ I am so grateful for your thoughts and hugs~ she is buried in a spot she loved to chase squirrels, I envision her in doggie heaven barking at all the newcomers and running free~I have been trying to upload a pic of her and I taken just a week ago~ trouble on this site trying to do so.....

Melanie,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Pets are part of the family and your Tootsie sounded so special. Having you there I am so sure was such a comfort to her. We had our LuLu for 17 years! Her and I were pregnant together.
I'm glad you'll always have your special memories of your beloved friend.
Big hugs to you!
Love,

I was able to upload the pic my husband took the week before she passed~ why I can't get the thing to upload to my wall pic...?
My heart is healing...slowly. the house is so quiet without her protective barking. I jingle the tags on her collar just so I can remember her following me about the house~

She had a great life being your shadow and she made your life better too. It is so great that she got to go peacefully and you got to help her. What a happy, sad ending.
Our pets are our family, especially after our kids move out, and there is nothing better than opening the door to find our best buddy waiting.
I am sorry for your loss,
Jennifer
PS My hubby looks pretty funny sitting in his recliner with not 1 but 2 bassett hounds on his lap. He will really miss his babies when something happens to them
My deepest sympathy Melanie for the loss of Tootsie.
