Gosh, Dawn~ we sure hear
Gosh, Dawn~ we sure hear about every type of Dr here on these boards! I am continually appalled at the non-care that is out there, and the complete disrespect shown. I hope all the best for you and your mom~ certainly neither of you needs the extra stress. Keep us in the loop~ though we are not Drs, we have the fellow-feeling, love and compassion all of us deserve!!!0 -
Delayed CT Results
Hi Dawne,
To received results of a CT (or mammogram or PET scan, etc.) 2 full weeks after it was done it pretty horrible. Inexcusable actually. The ordering doctor should have the results within about 4 days - if not sooner. There is no reason not to be called with good news and relieve the anxiety of waiting. If the news is bad then to me that is even more reason to call the patient quickly and get things moving along. I wouldn't call it negligence in the legal sense of the word but it is extremely poor "bedside manner" and poor office management. Part of being a doctor is giving patients test results promptly and acting on them. While your mother is under this doctor's care I would not file a complaint with the Texas Medical Board, but once she is no longer his patient I would absolutely go for it. It might result in no action on the Board's part at all but it would give you and your mother some satisfaction. If nothing else, there would be a complaint on file and the doctor would have to respond to it. The doctor should know how seriously you all took this matter.
With all this being said you should know that I wish only good results for your mom. Please keep us posted.

I to had problems like this only much longer.Did the calling etc.for almost 3 weeks. Finally I got in to see the doctor to find out what he was going to do about my tumor that was found. Then he orders the Breast Center to do a needle biopsy.Next day I was in his office for a cancer dx but it took 6 weeks for the biopsy and 2 weeks for the lumpectomy.Since it was non invasive DCIS, no node involvemnt and a 1/2 centimeter and clear margins I stayed. Then 2 years later the same thing happened.Delayed.Almost one month before a needle biopsy was ordered. That tumor was benign. Now I am seeing another doctor. It hurts though.
I can't say for sure but I do know that when I was called in it was malignant. Maybe with the delay there was more testing needed on the tumor but your mom should've been told that.
Best of luck to you and your mom.I remember not long ago you were having some problems.

I will be sending along a prayer with your mother tomorrow. I can't believe this has gone on this long. As you recommended I too would definitely be looking into a future doctor for your mother. Make sure she confronts him tomorrow and asks him why he waited? I'm praying it's nothing serious.. but my gosh the stress from "not knowing".
Love to you both,

I would be picking up all my records while I'm there. And getting a real Dr, that cares. This is appalling. No excuses. Is this what she would do if she was her mother?
All of us that have good Dr's should count our blessing because there are allot of crappy, useless, uncaring, in it for the money Dr's. God forbid she ever gets sick and gets a DR, like herself. Prayers for you and your Mom. Take care and give Mom a Hug for me. Kay.0 -
