My precious lil' wiener dog "Tootsie"~~

I got toots when she was 6 weeks old, and have had her for 10 1/2 years~ she stayed faithful to my side through the deaths of both my parents, and my diagnosis (2x) and multiple surgeries, radiation etc.
Thanks for letting me share~ it is part of the healing process for me~ to express what hurts so deeply, to ones i can entrust will understand~

Oh Melanie I am so very sorry for you loss, I totally understand as my furry friends are my family and I love them sooo much! I will keep you in my prayers as I know how much this hurts. You were blessed to have each other and blessed to be together to the end.

I feel so bad for you. I
I feel so bad for you. I have a little cocker spaniel that is my shadow...follows me everywhere except when her nose gets her in trouble. I feel your sadness with the passing of tootsie. I think our animals can really help us our, especially when going thru something traumatic. I would cry for you, too. Please let us know if you get another dog. It would be nice to hear a story about a new life in your life after you heal from tootsie's passing.0 -
Melanie, I know how you
Melanie, I know how you feel. Let the process take it's time. Mine took almost 2 years! I lost my Sandi to oral cancer 2 years ago. It was a fast and furious disease with 2 surgeries and no relief. We had to put her to sleep which was horrific. So happy you didn't have to do that! I still cry when I think of her. I am now as I type this message. There is such a great loss in losing a pet and it takes a long time to get over it. My baby was 12 years young. Thought I would have for another 10. Love and hugs to you and your family~~ If you want to talk about it, pm me. I would love to share.

Melanie - I write this with tears running down my cheeks.
I have been exactly where you are; I, too spent the last
hour of my precious Buffy's life cuddling her in my bed.
I'll never forget. That was 20 years ago. Six years ago I
got another precious puppy, Molly, who is my constant
companion. When you are ready, I hope you will find that love
again. My heart goes out to you; so sorry for your pain.

I have had such a hard day, trying to work and stay focused. It is a fog of a day~ I am so touched by all your comments and care, and so appreciate your prayers for me (& family). My daughter moved home from college this summer and brought a black lab with her she rescued~he happily greets me at the door, with a ball in his mouth.
My "shadow" as angela shared above, is no longer under my feet and following me~ it is an empty feeling indeed~ and Teresa, what a memory for you 20 years later of your buffy~ I am hopeful to eventually have another lap dog, to cuddle with again someday.
Thanks for your love girls!

It's always a difficult time but you're being with her made it better for both of you. I remember staying up all night with my Siamese in my lap watching and waiting. I'm shedding tears for you but was glad to hear you're considering another lap dog. We brought home 2 kittens 3 1/2 months after we lost our "old lady" and they have been the light of my life and a great morale boost through my treatments. You were blessed by Tootsie and she was blessed by you.

Sorry
Melanie - I am so sorry to hear about your sweet little wienie dog. I had one of those as a child and just loved Max so much. Recently, we lost our dear yellow lab Bodhi to cancer. I know how very hard it is to lose such an important part of our lives. I am tearing up as I write this, and it's been over 6 months; I know it must be so hard for you right now. Hugs, Linda0 -
What a lucky little doggie!
She had a great life being your shadow and she made your life better too. It is so great that she got to go peacefully and you got to help her. What a happy, sad ending.
Our pets are our family, especially after our kids move out, and there is nothing better than opening the door to find our best buddy waiting.
I am sorry for your loss,
Jennifer
PS My hubby looks pretty funny sitting in his recliner with not 1 but 2 bassett hounds on his lap. He will really miss his babies when something happens to them0 -

So sorry to hear about Tootsie. I lost one of my German Shepherds dogs this past January just two days before I was to undergo my lumpectomy. Gidget was my little angel in life that never left my side. I still cry for her.0 -
