There is much cancer on both sides of my family, colorectal, prostate, lung, melanoma but I am the first with bc that I know of.

I'm the first and only one to have bc. There is mostly heart disease in my family, not cancer.

    family history
I thought that I was the first one, but found out my grandmother had a sister that had breast cancer. My mom had a diagnosis a year after me. I have a lot of cancer in the family, Pancreatic, Bladder, Ovarian, Lung, and Breast. You would think that some where there is a cancer gene, I guess not discovered yet.

not the 1st - hope the last
My grandmother and aunt were both diagnosed with BC. Both are fine now. My grandmother is 90~. FYI, was tested for the BRCA gene and was negative. Hopefully, I'll be the last in my family to have this nasty beast!

    Grandma
Grandma had it and was cancer free for 20 years. She got cancer aqain at age 80 but it was not related to her bc. Her long survival rate from bc gave me a lot of hope as she survied with only a masectomy. They didn't do chemo or radiation in those days.

I know what you mean about no chemo and radiation. My mom lived 60 years.Just amazes me now after being dx myself and kowning chemo or radiation is almost Always done. I didn't have either with DCIS non invasive and localized 1/2 centimeter tumor.Sometimes I think t "Should I've at least had radiation".

    First
I was the first one on either side of my family to be diagnosed. I only have one female sibling, and she has not had b/c, but died at 53 of a massive heart attack. My daughter also died of a stroke/massive heart attack at age 40. Guess I should have been more prone to have heart problems, but was blessed with breast cancer. You never know. Hugs, Judy

I am the first one in my family to be diagnosed with bc. It seems like most of us are the first.

I think my maternal great grandmother had BC
but it wasn't talked about and there's really no one to ask anymore. My maternal grandfather had prostate or bladder cancer (again, it wasn't talked about). My bad family medical history is primarily heart disease.

So - I have minimal, and not first degree relatives, family history of cancer of any kind. I never dreamed I'd have cancer, let alone 2 primary cancers at the same time.

    only 2nd
I discovered, when my dad was diagnosed with non-hodgekins lymphoma, that his maternal grandmother died of breast cancer. No one knew until the funeral director told them - she was too embarassed to go to the doctor. What a waste! But people didn't talk about it back then. Two aunts, my mother's sisters, have had other kinds of cancer. It's a roll of the dice, so to speak.

I was the first one at age 34. My mom at 60 was diagnosed 2 months after I was. Then my mom told me that she did have a cousin who passed away in her 40's of breast cancer. I did also test positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation.

    Family History...
Unfortunatley My mother, her mom and my sister had breast cancer. Other cancers... my dad pancreatic, my brother lukemia, and niece also pancreatic cancer.

All above have passes away, except my sister, whose been in remission for several years. I also have a daughter I pray never has to experience this. I also have an older sister that has not experienced it either.

I tested negative for the Braca 1 gene mutation.
