I was the first one on either side of my family to be diagnosed. I only have one female sibling, and she has not had b/c, but died at 53 of a massive heart attack. My daughter also died of a stroke/massive heart attack at age 40. Guess I should have been more prone to have heart problems, but was blessed with breast cancer. You never know. Hugs, Judy0 -
Oh Lucky Me
I am in the only one in my family to have been diagnosed with any type of cancer. My children have gotten a raw deal as my husband (their father) is a colon cancer survivor. We are both in remission - me 15 months and my husband 4 years.

But someone in my family told me that they thought my great grandma had it but they were not sure.
Also my Aunt (dad's sister) did get it at 85 and had lumpectomy with radiation, but I always said that she got it so late in life that most people wouldn't even know if they had already passed. Crazy way to look at it, but I guess I have some history.0 -
Second One
Dear Susie,
My only cousin, Carol, had breast cancer at the age of 40. She had a single mastectomy. She died 5 years later. She was my mother's niece (daughter of my mother's sister).
My sister had 4th stage lung cancer and died at 54. My mother had carcinoma of vulva and died at 74. So...cancer is in my family, but each one of us, except for my cousin and me, had different cancers. I find this fact interesting.
It's also interesting that, so far, the women who have posted are the first ones in their family to have breast cancer.
Lots of Hugs,
Janelle0 -
1st bc
My dad's sister died of ovarian cancer in the early 1970s at 53y/o. We were always told it was uterine until after my dx when we pinned down one of her daughters...guess you didn't really talk about the details back then. No other cancer in the family, but hey, I am also the family history for rheumatoid arthritis. It is somebody else's turn for the next fun thing.

I was the first in my family to be diagnosed with bc. Lucky me, huh. I just pray no one else ever is diagnosed with it, or, any cancer.
