in Anal Cancer #1
Hello.
I was recently diagnosed with cancer. had colonoscopy where the surgeon found a 3 cm tumour. will not be getting surgery as they think best chance is to do radiation and chemo. had MRI and scans, Nov 21 going in for Port, next day start with radiation then chemo. Must say I am worried/scared about the radiation on my skin as I have Lupus (SLE) and very sensitive skin.
I have been reading through the posts, how others have coped and it has helped a lot.
I have family support husband and daughter. don't know what I would do with them.

    So sorry you have a reason to be here, but you will find lots of support and information here. Anal cancer treatment has a high rate of success, so please keep that first and foremost in your mind. While it's not fun, it's very doable, as many of us will attest. Yes, you will definitely need to watch your skin closely. My rad onc checked mine once a week, but you might want to insist that you get checked more often than that. Please come here with any questions you have along the way. There's already lots of good info here and I'm glad you've been doing some reading on the threads. There's nothing like advice from those who have actually been there. I wish you the very best and please keep us posted on how things are going for you.
