Second Round

I have been off of the pill chemo for two weeks now and I have to start taking it again today. I have been able to enjoy some good food and an occasional beer since my mouth/tongue soreness have pretty much gone. I suppose some or all of that will start to come back soon now that I am on another four week course of the 'poison pills'. My energy level has also been better and I have been enjoying walking around my yard. I got a little bit carried away on Saturday when I felt pretty good and I decided to get up on my roof and clean out my rain gutters. By the time I finished, I was shaking so bad I wasn't sure I could climb down the ladder and my heart was pounding and I felt like I could pass out. I told myself to not do this again. I have plenty of people who want to help me with things like this, but I am just a bit stubborn and proud and I don't like to ask. Well, I will certainly ask for help with that particular project when it is due again. There is no way to tell how this round of chemo will affect me, so I will just start today and see what happens. My scan is scheduled for November 28 and then my meet with my oncologist is on Dec 5. My life seems focused on that Dec 5 date to see if this pill chemo is doing anything to slow down the advance of 'the beast within'. I am hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. I sure hope that all of us with scans due this time of year get a good Christmas present of a good scan. Good luck to all of my fellow warriors.

Kill the Beast....
Just know it's another dose of "Kill the Beast" going into you... It's a small price to pay and sacrifice at the moment, but the reward will be awesome.
I also did some things during treatment, once mid chemo/rads..taking care of my own yard..mowing, weeding, hedge trim, blowing...etc.
It finally got me about the 4th or 5th week in. Like you I felt like I was going to pass out..mid summer Florida is not a good time to try that LOL.
I finally broke down and started paying my neighbors yard guy to take care of mine of a month or two.
I'm looking forward to you having a Great Christmas....now you be a good boy until then.
Best,

What Kind of Pill is Yours
Roger
what kind of pill is yours? Mine was Hydroxyurea and it was big enough to choke a horse. As far as side effects etc. from it, it was hard to tell as it was part of my concurrent chemo/rads. I had it twice daily along with the rads, 2 hours prior and twelve hours after the first dose. Always Hope & Pray for the best!!!
Wishes & Prayers on your next round

Hi Roger
Don’t climb ladders; I too learned the hard way on that one. I go on Dec 8th for my PET so I will be praying for you my friend that we both get a good one this time around.
I hope and pray that this round of treatment will do the trick and kick the C azz, stay as positive as possible and know we are all here pulling for you.
