Need to add some artwork to the girls
My plastic surgeon says they dont look that great when they do it and says to get it professionally done...but where do i go cuz im not just going to walk into a tattoo parlor and say hey give me some nips please! I prefer someone that has experience with nipple tattooing and someone thats good even if i have to travel to do it.
Any ideas or places i might check out?

Some artists
jojo - I've done a lot of research on tattoo artists ... when my PS said he let his PA's do the tats ... that kind of scared me. So, I sent on a hunt.
IMO, one of the best is Vinnie Myers in Baltimore MD. He does tats for breast cancer patients at John's Hopkins and his work is awesome!
Here is a link for him:

There are also good cosmetic tattoo artists. I would love Vinnie to do mine, but it just seemed to cost prohibitive to get out to MD and because of my LE, I'm afraid to fly. I found a lady in NC who will do it. I'm driving down to FL to see a friend and on the home I'm going to stop in Asheville and have her them. Her name is Earleen from Asheville, NC.
Here is a link to her work:

Over on BCO, there is a thread on tattoos and artists like Vinnie and others will respond to your questions. Here is that link:

Good luck, jojo on getting your tats! I'm so excited to get mine! Can't wait to be 'done' xo0 -

Hey JoJo....
Does your PS not do that? Mine was awesome.....my husband was there for both the tattooing
and the nip construction. He played great music on his i-pod.....it was like the graduation party! Dr. Dan Downey in Seattle......amazing!
Best to you!

DO IT!!!!!
Had it done at the hospital, they had a great artist and they look terrific. VERY hard to tell they aren't what they are supposed to be. I would make sure that whoever does it has done this specific type of tattoo before. I noticed the extreme variations of ink she had to to work with and her technique of working out form the middle and the edge tech is crucial to a natural look. Good luck!0 -

Question: are you having
Question: are you having nip tattoo on top of the nipple reconstruction or just tattooing nipple look a likes?
I don't know much about the process. I have just had a nipple reconstruction and the plastic surgeon said to wait and see how it turns out before he will consider tattooing colour into it.
Another question: How long does one have to wait after the nipple reconstruction before the tattooing can happen?0 -

mariam_11_-09 - The earliest my PS (actually his PA's) would do it was three months. And three months seems to be the earliest that any would do it. I think the 'magic number' is 3-6 months. By the time I get mine, it will be 11 months. Three months was too early for mine ... my left side wasn't completely healed yet. But we're all different.0 -

My PS does it but said if it was a temporary solution for those planning on getting nip reconstruction later but for permanent tattoos for those not wanting the reconstruction that its better to get them professionally done...for better quality and more realistic looking.
I did look up Dr Dan in Seattle...thanks for the tip!0 -

I went to get a nip tattoo but ended up with a beautiful humming bird and hibiscus! Love looking in the mirror and seeing something so beautiful that reminds me of Hawaii and the beach instead of the big C.
Your tattoos sound amazing but im more the boring traditional nips girl...LOL.0 -

Thanks for enlightening me on the nipple recon/tattoo process. There are so many ways to approach this as there are women on this board. I am glad we have it, the board that is to help each other navigate through this stuff.
Jo-jo I wish you well in your nipple tattoo process. Good to see you on the board again.0 -

Thank you so very much for such valuable research and solid information.
Difficult to say the least for many of us 'reconstructive SISTERS' facing our final phase or phases if we elect for nipples figuring out where to go 'next' ..
Adore and love you!!

of professional .. such as your PS or Dawne Hope.
I know from what I've been told (out here in Southern California) -- that after nipple surgery -- the wait time is about 6 months until tatt's.

jojo- If you don't go the nip reconstruction route and I know some ladies don't do it because of rads or because they just don't want any more surgery, consider getting the 3d tats! They're awesome! Those are the kind that Vinnie does and they look so REAL! He responds to emails if you check out his site, his email address is there, and you could ask him for good 3d tattoo artists in your area. You deserve the best. Some of them even offer to do it for free because we're breast cancer survivors. I know the lady I'm going to in Asheville, she does it by donation. I can pay $1 or $500 or more. Whatever I can afford or want to pay.
Go 3d, sister! You deserve it! xo0 -

Its nice to know that i have good options now thanks to your research and a couple other girls! The ones that i looked up on my own SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME!!! The pics of there work was horrible! I felt bad for some of those girls.
Dawn i guess when i get the 3D tatts i have to be careful not to get around anyone with 3D glasses...id hate to poke an eye out or something...lol!0 -

isn't it amazing how much we learn through all this *&%$? Research, research, research. With all our experience and our own research ... together we're all like walking bc/reconstruction encyclopedias!
JoJo - Are you wearing good bras? Those will help with the gravity issue. They really, really, really do help! xo0 -
