What happens if you can't finish a round of chemo in one appointment. Can you split it? Last time I got really sick during chemo

    there are several things
there are several things they can do. They can reduce how fast it is entered into your system. They can reduce the amount they give you. They can give you smaller amounts and make you come in more often. Or they can change the chemo combo.

For me, I was to get taxol/carboplatin once a month for six months. I couldn't handle the taxol so they changed it to gemzar which I took the gemzar every two weeks and the carbo once a month. That seemed to work for me.

    My best to you.

    Hair situation
Kaleena: did your hair grow back after you switched from taxol to gemzar? Did you have a good response to the carbo/gemzar combo?

    I actually had a severe
I actually had a severe allergic reaction to the taxol within seconds of it going in. Then they waited a week and then started the carbo/gemzar. So I never did lose my hair with the gemzar. I handled it very well. I did get some neuropothy(?). I completed my treatment in May of 2006.

Also, I didn't have to premedicate the night before like with taxol. They just gave me the initial stuff before each treatment. While on treatment, sometimes (not very often) I did get queasy. Also, the second day after treatment I would be completely exhausted by evening, although I was still able to work during the day. I did gain weight during treatment.
