Weird rash
Is this hives? Or a side effect from chemo? Anyone ever had this with carbo/gemzar before? (Today is day 5 since my carbo/gemzar infusion.)
I get my day 8 infusion of gemzar on Wednesday, so if it is still there, I will get it checked out.

rash
I've had lots of carbo/gemzar and then cisplatin/gemzar and never had a rash or severe itching 5 days in. I had rashes when I was developing an allergic reaction to carbo, but that was during infusion. Have you tried taking a dose of benedryl? I don't think that med could do you harm (except maybe make you sleepy) and it might tell you if it's an allergic reaction to something. If it gets any worse... please call your ONC, ok?

Rash
Hi Kathleen, I am on the taxotere/carbo and I developed a rash about 5 days out from the infusion. It was on my inside of my lower arms and itched like crazy. I called the chemo nurse and she said to take benedryl (like Maria suggested). It worked for me. It did go away before my next treatment. The next treatment my hands swelled up. I couldn't believe it and they were driving me crazy. They had to give me some steroids for that. They finally went down but then I shed my skin.
Tomorrow is my next treatment.... yeah I can't wait to see what develops on this one.
I would just call your doctor and I am sure he will give you something.

thanks for responding. I was thinking bendryl too, but don't have any in the house. I will go out and get some today. The neck rash is still there, but doesn't seem as itchy. I'm thinking it will go away by the next infusion, and I don't want my doctor to nix the carbo...... yet, anyway. He tends to be overly cautious at times. I just hope this is not an allergic reaction to carbo..... It seems that everyone that developes that gets it during the infusion or shortly thereafter, right?
