in Head and Neck Cancer #1
Sorry not posted for a while have been fighting the frustration and do not like winging. Well I could not get a PEG to much damage from previous surgery's ,so had a NGT put in again after 2 weeks in hospital.I had to pull it out 5 days ago and have been drinking vitamised baby nappies ever since (Jevity). Still loosing weight as the stuff makes me want to barf, but today I managed half a boiled egg beat up in a cup with a little butter. I did pick up a smidge of egg flavour, but with no saliva it was difficult.
Have been reading on site from time to time but not messaging.
Do not get me wrong but my cancer specialist dietetic says she is blown away by my progress so I am happy but chaffing at the bit. Smart aleck wife just looks at me and says I told you that you were a quick healer.

    Hi Ray

    Glad to hear you are back and doing as good as possible. Sorry you could not get the PEG as I hate when they shove things up my nose.

    Was thinking about you yesterday. So sorry you were unable to get the PEG. Can't imagine having to drink the Jevity. Jim is gagging just thinking about it. Keep strong and I will keep praying for you.

    taste like chalk
    I drank tons of jevity. The tube was sometimes too much work. It tastes like chalk basically. Makes a tolerable coffe creamer in a pinch.

    hehe I might not have taste buds but I do respect my coffee too much mate . Actually have not had a coffee in months as the last one tasted like c*&^p so rather wait and see If taste comes back as I have a love affair with good coffee.

    I'm using up my Jevity by putting it in the blender, adding a little milk, vanilla ice cream, and any kind of fresh or frozen fruit. It disguises the Jevity enough that I can drink it.

    I especially like it with some peanut butter too! I do that a lot because I'm trying to gain weight.

    Ray, glad to hear you are hanging in there....

    As for the coffee...I'd be willing to lay money on the taste and flavor returning over time.
