Sunday Morning ER Visit

This is not exactly how I had my Sunday planned. My wife had to drive me into a local ER room for one of those 'unmentionable' problems we chemo patients get from time to time. They got me fixed up and gave me a home kit and some instructions on how to perform the 'Foley Shuffle' at home. I also got some more advice on diet and such. I sure hope this works because let me tell you, it Huuuurrrrrrttt!. Hopefully, things will be better now and I will be contributing heavily to the prune juice producers. What ever happened to the good old days when my body worked perfectly for many, many years even when I abused it? Ah, to be young again.

    Hi Roger

Sorry to hear that but you are not the only one with that problem, it is hell when you can’t go and need some help or a lot of help. Here to the prune juice.

    Solution we use
Roger, Jim struggles with that problem also. A nurse recommended Milk of Magnesia and prune juice for relief. She also cautioned that you might want to start with half dose of MM because it can give you diarrea if not use to it. This formula has wprked well for Jim with 1/2 dose of MM.

    Hope things get better.

    pain on Sunday
Hi Roger, if you say it hurt, it must have really hurt, so I hope the rest of your Sunday is pain free. Yes, the "old" normal, especially the young normal, remind us that time sucks. I like prune juice, though haven't been drinking it lately. I'm pretty much a couch fixture, so I try and eat as many fruits and veggies as possible, and take fiber pills when I remember, and it works.

    best, Hal

    I have
irritable bowel, so anything messing with my system causes grief. I have found that by eating 1/2 cup of oatmeal (McCann's Irish Oatmeal) in the morning keeps me pretty regular. What's nice about the oatmeal is that you can use milk or water and you can dilute it to the consistency you like. Some people like it very runny and I like it where you can almost eat it with a fork.

On the rare times I am unable to purge, I use Philips Milk of Magnesia stool softeners that "encourage" my system to function.

I agree, not a great way to start out Sunday, but glad you were able to find some relief.

    Hang in there.
