Feeding Tube

Hi everyone. My husband finished radiation, and chemo last week for stage 4a throat cancer. He is very week but hanging in there. I have been searching the board and found many replies about the duration of the recovery. It looks as though it could be many months when he is feeling better.

I have been making soups (Carrot & Ginger, Asparagus, Sweet Potatoes with Apples and Carrots, and 15 Bean Soup) with the Cuisinart Blend and Cook Soupmaker. This gadget was a lot cheaper than the Vita Mix and it has been great for cooking and blending foods for his feeding tube. He's getting burn't out on the Jevity and he says that the soups give him energy. He has been using 1 can of the Jevity and 8 ounces of the soup for each feeding. Most of the recipes I found online. I made Magic Mineral Broth to put in all of the soups. I used organic ingredients. This YouTube link shows Rebecca Katz making the broth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEFMtkZ9EFA.

Lots of prays to everyone for a healthy recovery,

Donna in Ohio

That's great! Glad you found something that works well for you. Sounds like good, healthy and nutritious foods. I love my HealthMaster and I love soup and keep stocks in the freezer all the time. I use them in my cooking every day. Thanks for posting that. I also have a link on the superthread for anyone who needs the Magic Mineral Broth recipe.

    Thanks Donna
We are going into the soup season, even in Florida. Where did you get your soup maker? I use a regualr blender. I found the Vitamix hard to clean. Thanks for the link.

    I don't have a vitamix, so
I don't have a vitamix, so maybe it's harder to clean than my HealthMaster. I don't usually have an issue, but if I get something in there that is a bit sticky or more fragrant, like garlic, and I want it super clean, I add some water and a bit of soap, and let it blend a while. Never had a problem with getting it clean and fresh.
