6th and last
You will be so glad to be done with chemo. I can tell you what I have taken to repair chemo damage, but you absolutely must ask your physician or chemo infusion center what is ok and what isn't.
I took: magnesium, Vit. B, Vitamin C, and Calcium + D3. I cannot remember when i started taking these, but it seems like I was taking them while on chemo. I'd heard that Vit. B and magnesium would help reduce/remediate neuropathy. I had a bit of that at the end of chemo, but it went away in a month or two.
I still take all those supplements.0 -
Praying for you
Robin, I know how scarey it is at the end of chemo, but the good part is that it will be over. Praying it is an easy one for you. You have not been told to take supplements because most oncologists don't recommend them and many will discourage you from taking them. As far as I'm concerned, the end of chemo is the beginning of healing your body. If you can find a naturopath or integrative doctor or nurse practitioner, he or she can guide you through getting your body and immune system back in shape.0 -
6th round
All my prays going your way I will be having my 6th treatment of Taxol/carbo avastin on the 20th then just Avastin for two years. Are they keeping you on a maintance chemo or is this just it. I am praying that there is not cancer left to kill it is already gone. My God have his hand over you during the last treatment.

You got my prayers. How are you feeling? It is such a good feeling when your done with chemo, it's scary and exciting at the same time.
feeling nervous and happy to be done. I stupidly read alot of grim things on the internet yesterday about ovarian cancer. I wish I had not done that, but I did. Now, I am more afraid than ever. Argh. Thanks for your prayers. I love your new hair growth. You look beautiful.0 -

all the posts you take the time to write. I did start reading the Anti-Cancer book. Very compelling and I am going to try to follow his advice. Did you know he died recently? He certainly lived much longer than they anticipated and I am sure his decisions regarding his health influenced that. Anyway, I am wondering if my insurance will cover seeing someone who can help me with fighting this cancer using supplements. I will have to look into it. It seems overwhelming and expensive. Why does money always have to be an issue?
Thanks again.0 -

And thanks for taking the time to answer my post. Your comment about the neuropathy helped me mentally as I have a bit of that now and feel very concerned regarding whether it is permanent or not. Maybe mine will go away too!0 -

I know, money is always the issue. I really wish the medical field was more open to integrative therapies because then maybe insurance would pay for it. It's a whole lot cheaper than chemo. You will need to check with your insurance company. There may be an integrative doctor who is in network for you. I went thorugh a whole lot of paperwork and heart ache over the past 6 months, but I've finally figured out how to get reimbursed for my IV vitamin C. You can ask your insurance company whether your policy will cover the following CMP codes:
96365
96366
96550
A4305
J7050
If it will, you may be able to get some reimbursement for IVs, if you receive them. If your insurance company will cover these and you find a doctor to administer them, I would be happy to explain how to submit claims, if the doctor does not. Also, if you work with an integrative doctor or nurse practitioner (or a naturopath in a state where they are licensed) your supplements are tax deductible.
I did hear that Dr. David Servan-Schreiber recently died of the cancer he had been fighting off and on for years. But, his initial prognosis was 6 months, and he lived for 19 years, and learned how to appreciate a good quality of life in the process. I guess that is all we can really ask for. Good luck with your last chemo. I was dreading mine, and it turned out to be the easiest one of all.0
