Still shrinking

in Colorectal Cancer #1
Jake got the results of his latest CT scan back today. His lymph nodes are stable or slightly smaller and a met in his peritoneum that was 3.7 cm is now 2.8cm. Thank goodness that all he is going through is accomplishing something! Wish it would all go away but we'll take even small bits of good news!

    Unless it's one of our favorite cashmere sweaters is a GOOD THING!!! Wonderful to hear Jake's news, here's to more shrinkage!!

    Thanks
    for all of the support. We won't know the whole story until next week since his onc was out of town but the summary we got from his replacement sounded good. Hope to go fishing this morning to celebrate--if the weather cooperates!

    I can't help but think of a Seinfeld episode about Shrinkage. :) Thanks GOD for your shrinkage! :)

    Jake, good news is good!!
    I have to disagree with Winter Marie in that there are times when shrinking could possibly not be good. I'm speaking of chemo induced atrophy that affects my gender. I'm still investigating, and haven't reached any conclusions yet.
    So back to Jake, enjoy the fruits of your labor.

    Only in my case, it's not cold water, it's the chemo. I'm so wiped out otherwise, so not relevant at the moment. My wife says it's one of those self image issues. Well, that's an insult to people with real image changes. Besides, I have no plans for doing Fruit of the Loom ads, or touring with AC/DC.
    I'm very concerned about diminished brain function-will it return, and will at least some hormone function return. I mean, I mean, think about it for a man. truthfully, it's great to be alive.

    Hey Kimo Sabe - It's Tonto....
    Radiation induced shrinkage works just the same. Like frying a hot dog out on the grill:)

    Investigate if you must, but acceptance is where the real issue is. And that's going to be the conclusion. Just don't look down - and if you do happen to feel around and find an inkling of your former glory, tie it to the end of your bumper and pull, LOL:)

    That is promising news and shows that the treatment is working. Hopefully, it will shrink to almost nothing and then surgery. Any size down is a better size.

    Peritoneum nodule shrinkage
    Hi: What chemo treatment is Jake on? I have had shrinkage too (peritoneum cancer originated from gallbladder cancer). My current chemo treatment is oxaliplatin-irenotecan-5FU pump for 42 hrs administered every two weeks with one week off. My oncologist is very happy with these results. (my gallbladder tumour and part of the liver were removed April 2010).

    Glad to hear that you are responding well to the chemo also. I was surprised with the type of cancer that Jake has, that the tumors have responded as well as they have. Will keep hoping for good reports!

    Jake started on FOLFOX, after a month Avastin was added; after three months he had an allergic reaction to Oxaliplatin and was taken off that; a few days later he had blood clots in a varicose vein in his leg and was taken off Avastin; he was then put on FOLFIRI and Erbitux; after his second week of Erbitux his face was so broken out that he hasn't had any more. Think his onc is planning on giving him more, just not as often, probably every two or three weeks. He has one more month of FOLFIRI and then I think he will go on a maintenance of 5FU and Erbitux.
