John's Post-OP appointment, GREAT NEWS!!!!

John went for his post-op visit and we received the best possible news. The pathology report shows NO SIGN of cancer in 29 lymph nodes! The exact verbiage on the report “Lymph Node Resection “negative for metastatic carcinoma”. An irregular, ill-defined eroded tumor –NO residual adenocarcinoma identified, Tumor regression grade 0. John does NOT have cancer! Dr. Meredith said that this was the BEST possible scenario he could not ask for anything else. John’s weight was 135 lb (with shoes on) and the doctor did not seem concerned. He said he was pleased and that some patients lose 10-15 lbs after surgery (John lost 5lbs). He told John that 135 were his new base line and that he would monitor his weight from 135. He said he would see John in 3 months and get a CT of Chest/ABD/Pelvis at six months. He will scan and scope at one year. Now he just needs to regain his strength and eat. John is going to the gym and walking on treadmill some days, no lifting weights yet.
I wanted to Thank each and everyone of you for your support, kindness and love. John still needs to heal & gain weight but we have turned the corner to the best possible outcome (if you have to have cancer in the first place).
Does this mean we have made it to the senior class? Has anyone heard from out class president (Jeff T)?
Love you all
Erica

    William & Loretta
I will take May 17th as a good sign; from your mouth to God’s ears that John is running behind you (trying) to catch you he will always be 9 years behind you, LOL! You and Loretta are up front showing us the way. I cannot thank you enough for being here (on the boards) I would not have found the MIE surgery without you two! I hope all agree (I think they do) that we like to hear good news too. We want to hear all news (good, bad or in between) no one understands what we are all going through like the people that post here. I hope all is well with you and Loretta. Please know that everyone here loves and appreciates all that you do to help and educate.
    Love Erica

What wonderful news to hear! When I hear someone getting a good report it makes me feel that perhaps we are gaining ground on this terrible disease. It sounds to me like graduation is not far off!

    Congratulations!!
What great news - 29 nodes with no sign of cancer!!!!!!!!!! WOW! It so great to hear good, uplifting stories of people that are winning battles in the war against this beastly disease. Us stage IVs may not be able to win the same battles, but are over the moon to hear the good of those that can. Fight like he** for those of us that can't.

    Carry on Erica and John:)

    Congratulations again.

    CELEBRATE!!!!!
    Hey Erica,

I was getting concerned when you hadn't shared the news of the path report, I had no idea you were still waiting to hear the results! I know eaxcatly how you feel, when you hear those words..NO CANCER! I was laughing and crying all at the same time when I heard our surgeon utters those words.

Congrats, enjoy the day, and tell John how proud all of us are of him and his fighting spirit!

HAPPY for John!!! BEST POST YET!!!
    Erica,
That is such a JOY to read!!!! Lets all pray for YEARS and YEARS of NED reports from now on for John!!!

I just had to post what I believe to be a rather negative response to someone new facing surgery choices. I WISH I thought they could come out like you two did, but I was brutally honest. Hope I didn't do them a disservice. Only time and other's posts will tell.

I am SO happy for you and I cannot wait to read that he is going to the gym and is back on that treadmill EVERY DAY as he had so hoped to do to feel he was truly on the other side of the Junior class!

ALL of my love, prayers, and hugs coming your way!
    God bless you both,
    -Eric

    Wonderful News. I remember
Wonderful News. I remember the joy and tears the day I was giving my first ned report.
Yes we do need to post the good things, so that we can be an encouragement to those in battle with the beast.
So glad John is able to already go to the gym. At this point after my Ivor Lewis surgery, I was still very weak. That is why I think the mie is the way to go ,if possible.
Enjoy this restful time. After what you have been through, you both deserve it.

    Welcome to the senior class,
    Sandra
